1bis
Are you talking about creating a new race for everyone else to enjoy? I would say Mongolians or American Indians. Both are nomadic, horse-centric cultures.I don't recall anyone ever making a race of them for a mod.

Naktis
I don't really understand why you asked what race to make if you want to create the race that you can enjoy. We don't know what kind of things you like.
gengar807
i like races that make sense..not just a big blob of skin that is supposed to make the game seem funny
Lanceor
"Traditional" Tolkien/D&D style fantasy includes such small folk as Hobbits, Halflings, Gnomes and Kender. They'd make good additions to such a fantasy game, but given their small stature, they might be hard to implement. For something a bit easier, perhaps half-elves and half-orcs would work well. I'm not really a fan of making races that mimic real human races unless they're heavily "fantasy-ised". Real earth humans may vary in appearance, but there are only slight differences in terms of attributes. But if your American Indian race had special powers inspired by American Indian mythology for example, that would be a thumbs up from me. :)
1bis
I think all of Lanceor's ideas are good. The fantasy races mentioned really would rock in Oblivion. Half-Elf or Half-Orc give you all kinds of possiblilities of combining the skills of both races into one character. American Indians would be very adaptable to special skills and mysticisms because they do have unique skills unto themselves very in tune with nature and they are a very spiritual, intuitive peoples. pleasenoname
i was kinda talking about a race i can enjoy but now that you said an american indian..i might just make that for you guys too becuase thats a really good idea I am working on a Bison now to go along with this. If you make a Native American, I can finally play as a shaman. We will have to make a new shaman class. If anybody would like to work on a Maya style book (folded back and forth like a pamphlet), that would be cool too. Just google dresden codex to get a picture of the shape. Have a few language reference books, there is much mythology to draw upon. Obsidian arrows would have been used. I guess the closest thing in game is ebony arrows? WeissYohji
There is the Southlander race mod if anyone wants to play as an American Indian. We do need more non-white human races, though. Sure, we have the Redguards if anyone wants to play as a black person, but why stop there? Asians, Arabs, Samoans, both kinds of Indians--how come high fantasy has to be so Eurocentric? And make them look realistic--none of the fugly green splotches we keep getting when trying to make dark-skinned characters! Seriously, why didn't Bethesda ever fix that themselves? Had they never seen a real black person before? They DON'T have those greenish splotches on their faces!
