gloomygrim
a lot of new modders, and some old to, often ask for help creating a mod and get no replies or a reply but offering no help other than comments and criticism. I am one of these. i have have started a thread askin for help at least twice, i was lucky the second time to get help from a model maker. So how can new/old modders get help in creating there mods? Would it be best to put a suggestion in about creating a sub topic of locked topic here for modders with no projects going on who are bored? reaper9111
My experience here has show me that it's always better to work alone... You need specific informations : Search Google and if you dont find anything usefull , only then you risk your self to post for help here...You want ppl to join your team : Post a thread with LOTS of information on what you want to do exactly in the mod project... And ask ppl that are interested to join up if they want...You want something particular : Do it your self unless you dont have the proper knowledge, post specific info on what it is on your Mod project thread ! Best of Luck my friend...Team are extremly hard to relie on and hard to keep together ! Reaper
SinderionsBones
Might want to start with "Would you respond to this request?". Nothing sells your project like an image of "Wow this guy has put A LOT of work into this, and doesn't look like he's going to ditch after a week or two." Other things that help include the mod being very very reasonable to complete. This requires set goals, a complete list of objectives and at the very least a script and summary of elements for whatever you're putting in. Also sure to draw people is if they have the reaction of "Hey, all that's left are the parts I have fun doing. I would have fun helping this guy out versus getting stuck with either doing all the work, or picking up the pieces when he had to go to Canada for 8 months all of the sudden." A rough outline and some cool ideas counts for roughly 0 credibility points. An idea for a giant world altering thousand quests mod is pretty much guaranteed to stay an idea. forever. I don't know a lot from the viewpoint of actual artists (model/texture makers) but I'd imagine there's no reason for them to contribute at all if the mod isn't likely to be released. A mod purely based on their work, but released by you, is probably a non starter as well, go figure. Finally, and maybe most importantly for a project to actually get done, people have got to want to follow you, and have your act together. If you don't know how to do this, maybe you're better off making a mod that doesn't need more people, or joining a mod with someone who does, and has their stuff together. You can't give people a reason to think you're a hack. I don't know about anyone else, but pretty much when I see a post on a forum, the poster is guilty of being a starry eyed 14 year old. They have to prove themselves innocent with what they write and what they do. TL;DR: If no one is joining your projects, it's probably either the project, the pitch, or the author. Not that the message isn't getting out there. Man I love my rambling long posts....

gloomygrim
O i know that much i started a project with friends back when morrowind was the no1 moddin game and after a few weeks it drifts off into being one person doing everything. I ask more so as i see new posts askin for help a fair bit on here, although i have been away at least 3 weeks, and folks just get no help. Im lucky im fair handy with the ck as i have used em since morrowind, and am learning how to create modles although implementing them in game i dread lol, but many people its a hard thing as skyrim is there first game were mod tools are avalable and, IMO, essential. SinderionsBones
If you don't consider these things as answers or fundamental reasons for your problems, you are not paying attention. No offense intended. Everything could be straight on your end(nobody has everything straight, ever), and there still may just not be people that are interested. Happens. gloomygrim
O no its not for me im fine working with the CK, and after my own experiences with teams i prefere to work alone. Its more a question for new folks and what the rest of the mod world thinks is the best way they can get help with anything from a small script change to a huge world. See you guys/girls know these things, new folks may not. My thread my be redunant in a few hours but maybe some one comes across the info you guys gave and it helps get them help. nivea
I do not know about everyone else but spelling and making your thread easy on the eyes is a must, I do not want to work with someone who has to use O instead of Oh (just as a example in this thread I do not care how you spell outside of a project thread) I will understand spelling mistakes or you are not a native speaker. But make sure you post that some where, and no one wants to read a huge never ending one paragraph. But Nivea your writing is horrible! Yup, and that is why I am not a modder looking to start a project. Examples, make some then post them that will impress people that you have the skills to do some of the work. Start small and make a name for yourself first, other wise most modders who have the skills you want will more then likely never take a second look. Ghogiel
Joining a team for any experienced and serious modder is a serious businazz. why people don't ask for something very specific to be completed by anyone, rather than try to like contract someone into a team environment confuses me. Having a dedicated modeller to make 1 thing is very do able compared to getting someone to make a larger commitment to sometimes something that is rather unknownable in terms of what it is you are committing to. You just don't know what and who you are getting into (unless you do and that is what would make the offer even contemplatable). It's easier to get some place then you need this very specific thing done, and ask someone to help with it. It even frees up anyone who is dedicated on the team to do the soldiering in other areas. etc seeing something like this> Open Positions: modellertexture artistlevel designeretc It's like a job advert. No serious modder is going to commit to something like that on a spur of the moment based on a opening thread post alone. If they do, I wouldn't take them seriously.
