Why Isn't there Mod Packs?

@ OP ... will all my due respect to you, you are lazy and selfish, very demanding and at the same time, ignorant.

Let me tell you, everybody started to mod this and other games without any knowledge but we have been doing our homework which imply and not limited to : reading mod descriptions, reading mod posts, asking questions, watching video tutorials about learning how to use FO4Edit and we have been moving slowly from completely ignorance to knowledge.

You have been given a lot of valid reasons in the above but do yourself a favor, read and learn, do your homework and you will find out very soon, how difficult things are but how exciting is to learn ( even a bit ) something and have some kind of knowledge about modding. 1 year ago I started to play in PC and modding my games. Back then, I did not know anything and now, I have the knowledge to create my own custom mods and create a patch for my game via FO4Edit. I am not a master but I have been doing what I am supposed to do.

The information is out there and the only thing you need to do is pick it up and read it, study it and if you do not understand something, ask questions and move forward. Have you been to school btw ?

couldn't have said it better myself, including the part of trying to be respectful. a year ago, I never even knew what a mod was, or what they did. I can understand that some people might not find it interesting, but putting in the work is what makes modding worth it.

also, the future of modding depends on new people learning to mod. if everyone had the mentality that someone else should take the time to make things work for others,in a few years there will be no new mods

I'll just add this because my mod came up in the OP, I would never allow The Beantown interiors Project into a mod pack simply because of how often I update.

The mod pack would be out of date in a WEEK!

Not going to Happen or ever allow it!

I mean chances are very high people demanding mod packs would want the top mods and those wouldn't be allowed in packs most times.

So we have 3 posters,

Chucksteel, Ethreon, and Myself....Each of us with a load of actual Mod Creation experience...

We are all in agreement that mod packs don't work.

The sad thing is we can get down to the nitty gritty of why these don't work and all the effort and time that it would take to make something like it work and people still wouldn't understand due to their lack of experience in implementing any system with their own two hands.

Most people demanding mod packs are not going to understand that the closest approximation of such a thing is a combined feature frozen mod such as FWE or Unofficial Patches.

They want to here, I hit one download button get everything at its most recent state of being and it all magically works perfectly....

That will never exist, and its precisely why we have mod collaborations such as FWE or Unofficial Patches, cause stuff like the patch is so needed and wanted that it has a singular ESM.... If the Unofficial Patches were designed as a separate series of free standing ESP files it would never function as well as it does now.

The state of what is likely perceived as a Mod Pack, is so easily broken that no one modder in such a mod pack has to actively work against it to create an issue, this will happen naturely in time without any one of the modders even having to be conscious that his mod exists in such a pack.

Man, I come across this thread and I hate this expression but I'm literally shaking my head right now. This guy mentioned modpacks and didn't harp on them. He then went on to attempt to explain his frustrations after what seems to have been quite some time modding his game only to have it crash and nobody offered decent advice. The only advice offered was the guy who called OP, "lazy and selfish, very demanding and at the same time, ignorant." The most unfriendly advice ever. All anyone had to do was point him in the direction of FO4Edit and toward some help forum. But this was January and that meant pitchforks and torches were still out because of ModDrop. It was a poorly titled post at the wrong time OP, but you obviously know that in retrospect. Hopefully you found your compatibility issue by now.

But like the other guy said, "When the dust clears." I'm hoping that the Nexus has a plan because they're the only one's who can give credit where credit is due....well, at least they've got the drop on it.

I'm pulling for you Nexus. I think everyone is. Just make sure you stay current. Pitchforks and torches might not stop the next guys.

Stop the next guy from what? What can nexus do that would suddenly make mod packs not a pain to make and distribute? It's always fun to see the "ideas people" come by and try to push some nonsense.
