Transient3292
I'm hoping I get some replies to this question. I'm relatively new to computers in general, and am about to take some classes because this world of modding has really piqued my interest. what kind of computer background applies to writing a mod manager? I assume it would be similiar to creating apps , or working on ui type of mods. to be as precise as I can with my queation, I'm talking about things like NMM, even the mod drop program. I'm also curious as to what kind of Computer skills contribute to the creation of the script extender. this is all new to me, so any input is greatly appreciated. HeyYou
You want to learn programming..... C++ would be good, that is what a fair few games are written in..... Other folks will have additional suggestions. :)

sopmac45
@ wanderer3292 .... I agree with what others suggested but if you want to have the feeling, I would suggest to learn FO4Edit ... there is a video located in the mod : War of the Commonwealth .. watch it and you will learn how to use it and you will be able to create some mods for yourself ... ... at least that way you will get familiar with the game engine, create your own mods and create a patch for your game. I have done it without knowing anything about C ++ .... obviously, If I want to publish my mods, I would have to learn some programming but I am not on that now. Evangela
I'm learning C++ so I can understand how to write plugins(and anything else that has nothing to do with Bethesda games heh, but I'll never create a game, I don't have that kind of time). But diving in it was easy for me since I have experience in JS and Python(started with python). If you have zero experience, a mod manager might be out of reach for a little while. And C++ might not be required to make it. But if you take up c++, this site is real good: http://www.learncpp.com/ It doesn't assume you're already a career programmer. Perfect for total beginners.
