Why do modders do this?

Why do modders who make AMAZING armor force you to use just soly THERE armor without mixing and matching? I HATE when i download an amazing armor mod, and if I don't have the boot equipped, there still on me, I'm just not getting the armor for em. I want to be able to mix and match my own armor pieces ESPECIALLY the ones made by Hentai, because his are great, but he does this so much and It pisses me off but i think there are some of his armor that would look really great with parts of others but there is no mixing and matching allowed. And I know it's not a technical reason like the boots are to high up on the thighs, because the Ritter armor did EXACTLY what i am talking about, no problems and I'm glad i can mix and match that armor because to be honest, i think Vanilla leather boots look better with it then the boots it comes with.

Basically it is because they are Designers/Artist and not "modders".

Keep in mind that MANY MANY of these mods are from players whom have no real development/programming experience.

Unless you are willing to put in the effort yourself.....

Various reasons. Sometimes it is technical, limiting design or perhaps poor design/planning.

I guess it is mostly laziness. If they are competent enough to get s*** in game with working morphs, then the I'm just an artist and not a modder excuse would fail at that point, planning the outfit to take into account the standard norm and say exporting boots as their own object is hardly a mind bending or time consuming affair.

Nope

Its quite easy to divide armor and make the parts standalone...but it takes time.

They are making it all 1 piece instead of a set? I am not a character/armor modeler but even I know not to do that. I thought he was talking about the arms and legs ending where the gauntlet or boot begins instead of where the hand or foot begins so you cant use just any gauntlet, boot, or none because you would have a gap inbetween. I haven't used any of the hentai armors since they dont appeal to me, and now I wont even if he makes one that does.

Clipping, and people bitching about clipping.. That would be MY major reason to do somthing like that.

Also modders are artists they want their art to look its best, somtimes that means not allowing people to break up their armors. That and it takes time, some people do not want to take the time to do somthing they do not care about themselves. Maybe they like the one piece armor types, it is their mod so they mod for themselves first.

Clipping and people bitching about clipping. I put that twice.

True. It seems that when you equip only a piece of awesome armor it clips terribly with almost any other thing you have equipped. If you let the players mix'n'match, you end up with dozens of requests for compatibility patches and clipping 'fixes'.

I don't see hentai doing this "making it one piece"

His first version of Karliah armor was a set, and so are countless armors he made for Oblivion. If you're talking about how the legs won't match when you use another armor's shoes, then it is fully expected, and the weird guy is you

It is very much easier to just make a set and forget about compatibility with other armor set. There's a reason they created a set of armor and not just, say, the body: they're meant to be used together

there are lots of reasons to have what you are talking about.. its not just cause people are lazy. the game is kinda limited on what you can do with armor.

i have modded several hentai's stuff for oblivion to fit skyrim and i know what you mean..

some of his stuff he cuts the body up, so if you want to say not wear gloves, you wont have any arms, or of you dont wear the boots you wont have legs.

he does this cause its easier to keep clipping down. ive done it on a few of my armor that ive made, cause you can get the mesh more skin tight without any clipping if you dont have a body under it.

its really not possible to make a suit tho that will be fully compatible with every mix and match option in the game.

when you make a top, it has to fit the bottom, the shoes have to fit the legs and the gloves have to fit the arms.

if you dont make it fit all together (a complete suit) and just make each piece separate, i promise it will not have the look you are after when put together.
