LunarCharm
Hi people! So I have been getting CTD's sometimes since downloading more than 50 mods but it was never a problem, until now.Every hour or so (and sometimes at random) I get a CTD... I just wanted to download the romance mod but now I'm really scared doing that will break my game even more.I installed 3 mods extra before the many CTD's, but they don't take up a lot of performance and technically shouldn't be a problem because I have a new very good gaming pc.Can I fix the CTD's or is there something wrong with the way I download mods?- I have SKSE and NMM- My proccesor is a AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Quad-Core Processor 3.20 GHz and my computer has more than enough space- I have all 3 DLC's Mod list load order:GameMode=Skyrim Skyrim.esm=1Update.esm=1Dragonborn.esm=1HearthFires.esm=1Dawnguard.esm=1TERAArmors.esm=1hdtHighHeel.esm=1RaceCompatibility.esm=1MayaInstinctMain.esp=0aurielsbowenhanced.esp=1brat_richer_merchants_sp0.esp=1InvisibleHelmet.esp=1LovelyHairstylesCE.esp=1sec_friendsforever.esp=0Skyrim Hair Color Project.esp=1spawners_weightless_ingredients.esp=1spawners_weightless_potions.esp=1weir_weightlessgems.esp=1RonthilMarriage.esp=1spouses looks.esp=0thieves guild armor improved heavy.esp=1Tera Armor Level List.esp=1The Eyes Of Beauty - Elves Edition.esp=1SFO - Dragonborn.esp=1Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp=1N_43 Hair Pack.esp=1TKMN_MoreAdoptableChildren.esp=1TacticalValtheim.esp=1PrinceandPauper.esp=1SofiaFollower.esp=1SGEyebrows.esp=1noninjadodge.esp=1Celes Nightingale Armor.esp=1Daedric Reaper Armor.esp=1KNM_AcalyphaFollower.esp=1zMirai.esp=1CaesiaFollower.esp=1Bijin NPCs.esp=1Bijin Wives.esp=1Bijin Warmaidens.esp=1dD - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Realistic.esp=1CharacterMakingExtender.esp=1EnhancedCharacterEdit.esp=1KS Hairdo's.esp=1Vivid Weathers.esp=1SkyUI.esp=1Aeonbarr V2.1.esp=1FCO - Follower Commentary Overhaul.esp=1Relationship Dialogue Overhaul.esp=1Eyes of Aber.esp=1Armored Circlets.esp=1Unique Uniques.esp=1viciousdawnbreaker.esp=1ElementalArrows.esp=1JokerinePenguins.esp=1FNIS.esp=1XPMSE.esp=1FNIS_PCEA2.esp=1ErynielElfV2.esp=1female mannequins.esp=1female mannequins in homes.esp=1KS Jewelry.esp=1HDTTESTEarring.esp=1TwoRings.esp=1Ambriel.esp=1SkyrimIsWindy.esp=1HFDecorativeDolls.esp=1mega no spiders.esp=1HighResTexturePack01.esp=1HighResTexturePack02.esp=1HighResTexturePack03.esp=1Unofficial High Resolution Patch.esp=1SMIM-Merged-All.esp=1Prometheus_No_snow_Under_the_roof.esp=1RealisticWaterTwo.esp=1RealisticWaterTwo - Legendary.esp=1I'm scared of ruining my game so please help, thanks <3 Edited January 25, 2018 by LunarCharm
WastelandAssassin
well , you say you've added 3 mods to the game on an active save file?have you tried removing these 3 and going back to a save before installing them?because if it all started when you installed on of them , they might be responsible , and it's not necessarily related to actual performance (there are many causes for CTDs) as a side note , it's usually a really bad idea adding or removing mods on an active save file , so you should avoid doing so as much as possible If there is something else , more information you could provide , or something I misunderstood , please do tell

I didn't know adding mods during an active save would damage it.. it's parculiar, but yeah, I started my skyrim unmodded and without mod knowledge so I just threw alot of them in there when I noticed how many mods there are for skyrim... I regret that now
WastelandAssassin
removing mods from your existing save might actually cause more problems than it could ever solvethis really depends on which mods you are adding or removing , but generally speaking if the mod has a plugin (esp or esm file) , you don't want to remove it from an existing saveadding mods with plugins isn't always a problem , but I don't have any rule regarding this (some are safe to just add , others require some work , others should never be added to an existing save) If you remember which mods you've last added , it might provide enough information to help solve your issues , but no guarantees here
LunarCharm
Ultimate HD Fire Effects - Ultimate HD Fire Effects -Ultra Version- Static Mesh Improvement Mod Skyrim HD - 2K Textures - COMPLETE FULL Ruins Clutter Improved No Snow Under The Roof Unofficial High Resolution Patch - Unofficial High Resolution Patch So this might sound confusing, but I had the ''Skyrim HD mod'' and ''Ruins clutter improved'' installed before I downloaded ''Static Mesh improvement mod''. (SMIM)However, I had to install them after SMIM for overwrite reasons so I deinstalled those. Then I installed the unnoficial high resolution patch. Then I installed ''SMIM'', ''no snow under roof'' and ''HD fire effects''.After this I installed ''Skyrim HD mod'' and ''ruins clutter improved''. But my Skyrim HD and ruins clutter improved were already installed before without problems so I think the problem lies with the other mods.. WastelandAssassin
these are all graphical modsso this sounds like you are just taxing your system to the point your game crashes I don't know how you set your game up for mods , but you need to consider the fact that this game doesn't use your computer's resources like most games dothis game is set to only use 2GB of ram , and only use 1 core of your CPUthere is a 4GB patch , and there are plenty of optimization tools , but you should never consider Bethesda games like other games just recently I had some sever problems with running a modded Oblivion , on a computer that ran Witcher 3 on high without any problemsit's just how the engine works (or doesn't work) , so you need to find ways to work around this (and as I said , there are many optimization tools to use , and many guides on this as well) as a small side note , have you made sure your load order is sorted properly? have you made sure to check the installation instructions on each mod , especially in regards to load order?I'm not seeing anything that screams errors to me , but I haven't touched Skyrim in months , so I don't remember everything about the mods you have
LunarCharm
Oh wow thats a really weird way for a game to work, but thank you for telling me  I'll look up some guides on how to work around that then and pray that it works :tongue:And I did check with every mod if it was in the proper load order, but there are some mods that i haven't looked at in a long time and I may need to do some adjusting, lately I came upon 2 big spiders even though I had a no spiders mod installed, I have arachnaphobia so I was mortified, I then saw it was really high in my load order and the mod said ''as low as possible'', so yeah I do need to do some tweaking :pinch: Im just all over the place with everything lol Edited January 25, 2018 by LunarCharm
Pippboss
Providing that the load order is correct, just as a quick test, try make a new character. See if the game loads. If it crashes you have some work to do. Can you post an actual load order? Them unofficial texture esp's along with the patch should be loading right after the DLC's. One thing you could do is convert your current load order from NMM to mod organizer. I do recall Gopher has a tutorial on his YouTube channel because I watched it. You might be able to fix it, But I think to be honest with so many mods installed your chances are very slim. Skyrim is a twitchy little beast and requires a lot of TLC. Give it that TLC and take time to install mods in right order with NMM, you need some knowledge of what your installing, what it does. You also need some tools like LOOT, TES5 Edit and wrye bash to run an extensive load order like you are. Tutorials can be found on YouTube channels like Gopher, Gamerpoets and Dirtyweaselmedia. Do a youtube search you'll find them.NMM is a powerful tool, but Mod Organizer is the serious modders choice for the simple reason it does not write any files to skyrim data folder. You can see what conflicts with what and with a simple click adjust that load order and resolve that conflict. Its not as simple to use as is NMM. It has a steep learning curve, but its the way to go if you don't want to kill the base game.An example of how versatile MO is tonight for giggles I converted my entire load order to something completely different. With a completely different end goal. It took me two hours. Yes NMM does allow for profiles but MO's profiles are literally a 30 second copy/rename start over by activating what I want/need. I also didn't kill my real save game because of the profile's. Then I just filled in the gaps with my new mods run loot and I was done. I now have a UUNP setup that worked within 10 minutes of setting it up.I hope it helped.
WastelandAssassin
If you really have the time , I would also recommend switching to MOI also use that , and it does work wonders . it does take some learning to use properly , but it's probably the most efficient way to mod , especially for beginnersand yeah , Gopher has some incredible videos regarding MO and regarding some optimization , Gamerpoets also has really good videos (as for Dirtyweasel , I can't personally testify , but I would assume his videos are also great)It will take some time to learn and do everything properly , but I find it to be part of the experience (and besides , for a game you can play for 200+ hours easily , putting a few hours into setup isn't really a bad deal , I would think :) )
Pippboss
I impose some very strict modding and playing rules unfortunately its at the expense of save games. I never keep test saves, I test what I add with all mods activated including all MCM's running at a 1000 timescale to stress test things. Usually for a minimum of 30 minutes. I try to be mindful of what I've added, where and what it does.
