ReduxPL2
Welcome :)Decided to play through Skyrim, but from the very first launch of the game I have noticed an issue - the game would seemingly randomly drop to exactly 30 fps, regardless of my location. Opening the map and closing it fixes it for a few seconds/minutes, then it comes back. These drops also happened when I had 0 mods. Right now I have RealVision and all the recommended/required mods for it, not much else. Besides the drops, the game runs at constant 60 fps. Specs: Core i5-3570K @ 4.3 GHz, 16 GB RAM (DDR3-1333, Dual Channel), GTX 980 Ti 6 GB. Running on Windows 10. Temperatures are fine, of course.Any idea what could that be caused by? ReduxPL2
Could this be something with V-Sync? I disabled V-Sync and enabled 60fps limit instead, but that seems to have made the game much more unstable. But at least the 30fps lockdowns described before are no longer happening, and I am only experiencing some minor stuttering... Pippboss
FPS needs capping at 60 or bad things happen with the physics engine. With a 980ti you have the power to spare. Re-enable it. How are you managing your memory? Through SKSE (memory blocks) or via Crashfixes? Cal at DirtyWeaselMedia has a great video on Crashfixes I will link for you. Gopher has a great video on setting up memory management through skse. I will also link for you You can use either method to manage memory and if you have both setup it should not cause any issues. I run Crashfixes and while my game isn't as smooth as it could be I don't have the raw power with my PC that you do with yours. Hope it helps. Hope it works and good luck. ReduxPL2
Thanks for the response :smile:Indeed I have heard things about Skyrim bugging out with FPS limit off. That's why upon disabling V-Sync with ENB, I proceeded to enable the 60fps limit. I'm pretty sure the limit isn't enough, as I seem to be crashing every 15-20 minutes or so.I think I am currently using CrashFixes for memory management. I recall disabling something in ENBLocal after I got a message from CrashFixes, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm honestly lost in all the mods and their configurations, so I'll upload the configs of ENB and CrashFix so you can make sure :) I'll check the videos out soon, thanks again for sending them :)
Pippboss
Looks like crash fixes is up an going. In your enblocal.ini I would lower this ReservedMemorySizeMb=512 to 256 and see if the stutters go away. Not sure if it will make a difference but worth a try. Also try different ENB presets or more/less stressful versions of real vision. You did open up the taps on Skyrim especially via memory usage so don't think you can just throw anything at your PC and expect it to be butter smooth 150% of the time. Should be but stuff can and will lag badly at times if your not carful. Especially when you start adding lots of mods. Be carful with 4k textures for the sake of 4k textures. Are you running windows 7 8 or 10? Read somewhere they messed up Directx 9 vram usage on windows 10. Not sure it doesn't affect me I got 2gb of vram lol but its worth asking around somebody will know. So yea basically at this stage of the footy match I'd just be testing out different ENB pre-sets until I got Skyrim butter smooth. Then id start the modding and testing. Stress testing along the way to make sure I haven't introduced a game breaking unfixable conflict and broken Skyrim lol Good luck Edited March 6, 2018 by Pippboss
ReduxPL2
Changed the reserved memory value to 256 and dropped the video memory size to 8096 MB, will see if that changes anything. RealVision creator had the same opinion about 4k textures apparently, so I complied and I used 2k instead, wherever possible. I'm currently using Windows 10.Will try out some other presets, although I'm not really sure if they'll help if the issue also happens on vanilla Skyrim... You might want to start a new thread instead.
Sleepytime
Windows 10 is garbage, go back to Windows 7. It is only allowing you use of 4gb of ram and that simply is not enough.

It is only allowing you use of 4gb of ram and that simply is not enough.Sorry, but I'm not rolling back just because of that. Other advantages of W10 are of higher value to me.Besides, I think I got it fixed. I also disabled Skyrim's vsync and fps limit and I set adaptive vsync in nVidia control panel. Played for around and hour and it's butter smooth :)Thanks a lot for your help!
