The Lore of Winterhold.

Hello, does anybody else find Bethesda timelines annoying? Winterhold specifically. Now I understand the Great Collapse was catastrophic, but it's absolutely lore breaking that they haven't attempted some sort of recovery. It's been 80 years! They talk and act like it's happened yesterday. Entire countries have been built in that time, ignoring the fact that it was the most powerful province. Did ALL of your money wash away as well? Did you stop collecting taxes? If so, how are you able to pay anybody? Let alone the Dragonborn.

Did any of the provinces send aid? Or are we to believe that a storm can wipe out an entire hold with no regard?

I'm not saying roll out the Taj Mahal but they would at the very bare minimum cleaned up and started the process. What are your thoughts?

Agreed. Can't someone in the College of Magic just conjure up a friggin' hammer and at least fix the bridge?

Winterhold has always struck me as something the developers had to rush to completion at the last second. It's just there to provide a backdrop for the college and provide a few needed quest NPCs.

Even modders can't seem to get excited about Winterhold, although ETaC (for Oldrim) does a fairly decent job. Hope it gets ported to SE before too long.

I agree, vanilla Winterhold doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I understand Bethesda writing it so that it was more or less abandoned after the Collapse - but with the College still functioning, it seems only reasonable that some rebuilding will have been attempted.

In any case, I'm currently using Winterhold Restored (SSE) and I enjoy it. It's a full town now. They've even built a wall to protect Winterhold from further floods, which I thought was pretty cool.

There is kind of an interesting parallel too this in Fallout 4. The starting area of Sanctuary Hills hasn't changed in 200 years. The maker of a mod called 'Sanctuary Hills Rebuilld' felt those robots should have done more than polish rusted cars. The area is completely redone and clean with all kinds of neat things to find when you start the game.

Thanks for pointing out this mod to us! Kudo given.
