MuggleDude
Skyrim worked fine all day. In fact, I've been playing for weeks and an now at Level 42. Ben playing with the same mods since Helgen. Then I closed down my computer for dinner and Microsoft did an upgrade. Now I get CTD's on load. I can't get back into my game. Something similar happened when I was playing Fallout New Vegas. Upgrade on Windows and then problems. The fix was turning off a line in an .Ini file. I can't remember exactly the line, but it was something like SetFrameBreak=0. I know that is not right, I'm just hoping someone will figure out what I'm talking about. Another similarity with The Fallout problem is that I can load into small cells. I was able to get into an old save in Proudspire Manor. But in Fallout, I was then able to jump into a large open air cell. In Skyrim, I can't go to a save in a larger cell without a CTD. Any ideas guys? Mouse
Pippboss
Just to eliminate the possibility ...can you start a fresh game? If so check a save game cleaner and make sure the update didn't kill a bunch of scripts though why after an update I cannot provide a scientific answer. But its worth exploring.Has the load order in your mod manager moved any esp's around? Can you load the same load order into TES 5 edit? MuggleDude
What worked in New Vegas was changing a line in the Stutter remover .ini file. bHookCriticalSections to 0.
MuggleDude
Load order has not changed. I started the game with a save game that bypassed the intro wagon ride. For some reason, the opening animations are wonky on my machine. It's done this on several clean installs. Anyway, Save001 will not load. I've not used a Save Game cleaner. but probably should have. I had 121 orphans running. I could get in using TESV through Mod Manager, but of course SKSE wasn't running.
Esteris
Hey Muggle, I read up on Windows breaking games and how reinstall might help. I have ran the file validation on Steam and it has found errors in 5 files (they weren't there not long ago, I have ran the validation quite recently [3 weeks ago?] while testing something). Fixed them and the game seems okay. At least right now.
Deleted21550714User
as far as the 121 orphan scripts running, placing this in skse ini helps purge those from game, i still run save tool as well [General]ClearInvalidRegistration=1 you can skip to ini settings. MuggleDude
Just an FYI. Steam did an update that addressed problems with a recent Windows update. I tried it and it is working again. Muggle
