What Happened?

I had a strange event in the current game of SSE. Playing the normal sequence of game flow for the vanilla game with a few simple mods in place. Have become Thane of Whiterun with Lydia as companion and at about level 9. Left the Jarl's court with a task from Avenici to kill some bandit leader. Already purchased and furnished the Breezewood home there as my base.

 

After finishing the task and killing the leader, we returned to Breezewood and dropped off some goodies. Everything seemed normal and the local guards were the same as when we left. At the door to Dragonsreach, all was normal too. We entered the hall and absolute chaos ensued. We were attack by everybody all at once, including the Jarl and Farengar. Almost as if we or they were vampires. When my save recovered, we were still outside the door so went back home. I tried a couple times later and the same thing happened. So outside Dragonreach, every thing is fine, inside a mob of death. I don't understand why. Neither Lydia nor I are are vampiric or ill. Nothing else appears to be there.

 

Any ideas as to what is happening here?

Happens sometimes its a bug. You can use console commands to lower any bounty you have. Then purge cell buffer and wait 30 in game days in an interior away from Whiterun and see if that helps. If it doesnt then your save could have corrupted at some point Edited March 16, 2018 by Hexxagone

I probably have at least one earlier save I can try at a lower level.

 

One other question as I am new to using PC versions and not familiar with using console commands. Can I move the console key button from the tilde? I keep hitting it accidentally when trying to do other things like move or fight. Everything then locks up.

Keep it as tilde and look up a list of console commands online
