TapeSplicer
I recently decided to make a mod, my first in fact. I won't spoil much about what I'm planning, but it basically requires changing the .bgsm file directory on a base feral ghoul mesh. I have been watching plenty of videos (primary example: "How to get your own textures and materials into Fallout 4" by Gambsmoore/Mikemoore), but when I get to the part where I need to change the .bgsm directory, I get a message saying, "This cannot currently be undone," and I think it has something to do with the reason why the material on the mesh doesn't change at all. I've followed the exact steps provided in the video and even went overkill on the data folder directory for Nifskope, so what went wrong?

Yulliah
I am currently wondering if what you are doing is actually possible by exchanging the BGSM file...I say this because at one point I wanted to change the texture files/bgsm on the male human mesh for a specific outfit as the waistline of the underwear was bothering me... Long story short, the mesh automatically went back to the original bgsm file in its original directory UNLESS I exchanged the actual texture in the actual directory it's supposed to be in... But that would change ALL human males in game and only in MY game, not the game of other people playing my mod, UNLESS I forced them to use these textures as their general human male textures as well... To get back to your problem... I later tried this same thing while wanting to make outfits for Super Mutants and I ran into the same problem... I have no idea what part of the mesh does this, but unless someone explains this isn't hard-wired into the game, I do not have a solution for you... I can think of multiple problems and solutions based on what you've posted thus far. Are you trying to make a new type of ghoul with a different texture? Are you trying to replace the texture for certain ghouls? Are you trying to assign the .bgsm through nifskope or make a texture swap through the CK? Did you extract the meshes that you are trying to change the .bgsm entry of? Have you made a new .bgsm? Did you put both your .bgsm and your new textures in the right place? There's a lot that can go wrong here, so you need to be as specific (and organized) as you possibly can.
