closing vortex

Vortex does not need to be running for it to see your mods. You can exit Vortex and run the game as you would without it. Of course, if you are using a script extender you want to start the game with that as usual.

This is the advantage of using native Windows symlinks as opposed to rolling your own virtual file system like MO.

You always come up with the right answers SkunkMonkey and I appreciate that. I did not know that to be honest. Thanks so much ...

Now, I do have something to share and if it is possible SkunkMonkey, please help :

> I started a fresh Skyrim game. Opened the game icon, setup my options and I started my game via game icon ( without Vortex to be opened ..... ). Got out of Helgen, saved my game and exited. I opened Vortex and started to download / install all of my mods ... ( big mistake of my part ... brain fart ... ) ... my saved game was not in Vortex ! Obviously, I could not start my game with all my mods installed because when I tried, it did screw up immediately with my game ... so I had to delete everything and restart fresh again ... and this time, I had to have Vortex opened when starting my game via SKSE from my desktop icon ..., got out of Helgen, save and exit. Vortex had my saved game in there !!

Based on what I said and what you said about not necessary to have Vortex opened when playing the game, make me think if it would recognize / save all my games saves having it closed while I am playing my game. Any idea ? Thanks so much !!

Does the profile you're using in Vortex have Game Saves set to Yes or No? If it's set to Yes, you won't see other saves as it will only give you the saves for that profile. If you want to be able to load vanilla saves, it needs to be set to No so it will look in the normal saves location.

I think that's the issue here.
