Jamie767Craig
I have been a NMM user for a long long time, I prefer it to MO which was way to difficult for a moron like myself. I am not overly hyped for vortex, trying it out but its extremely difficult for me to use. There is a lot going on the all the pages. I don't understand most of whats on the page. I spent many hours looking up what those option are and trying to find solutions to issues I have. The only reason I even started using Vortex is because Fallout 4 is not on the NMM scan list and all my mods for are through NMM. I thought oh its just not recognizing the game so I re-scanned for fallout 4 and its not there. I found I could not download through NMM any mods for Fallout 4 and heard of vortex. Vortex is frustrating and getting irritating for me, it wont transfer my mods from any game to vortex because they are older than the .63 version of NMM and most of those mods are not from Nexus. If we are going to be forced to switch to vortex in the future that needs to be worked out I wont play these games without those mods and most of them are no longer available as the authors have either removed them or they no longer exists. I had to update NMM because it ran into a bug where I couldn't open NMM at all I selected the icon and it just never opened so I reinstalled it. now I have Vortex and can barely use it. I know NMM was not the most savvy thing on the planet but it was easy to use simple and I didn't feel so overwhelmed by all the stuff on the page. Vortex is a mass cluster effed hell of banners, icons, and options I don't know anything about. There are good things it handles downloads better and more efficiently. It sorts mods nicely, and starts up fast. But I really feel that its too complicated and over crowded to use effectively. Nmm was just simpler and easier to understand, I don't know I might being to harsh on it as its still alpha but I hope you guys look into making it a bit more user friendly and allow manual mod transfers to vortex so I dont lose half my mods and have to have both NMM and Vortex up at the same time. and maybe allow the option to show calientes body slide tool and FNIS tool like NMM so I don't have to go into the folders manually outside of Vortex. This is an opinion of course others may feel different I just feel like this is far more complicated compared to nexus.
SkunkMonkey
You have to keep in mind that Vortex is still in its early stages of development. This means there may be missing features and really bad bugs. There will also be no documentation as that is usually the last thing that is created in the development cycle. Currently, I wouldn't advise casual or novice users to use Vortex for those very reasons. It sounds like you might be better off waiting until there is some documentation and the UI has had time to go through a few iterations.
JimmyRJump
I was eager to try Vortex when there were talks of developing a new, feature-rich mod manager, but held back when it was released in alpha to the general public and it turned out to become more like a MO2 on steroids than an amelioration of NMM. Meanwhile, The Nexus stopped support for NMM, which, frankly, boggles me as the last version that is downloadable on-site (v0.63.14) doesn't support esl files yet while two of the most popular games for mods are Skyrim SE and Fallout 4, both having the Creation Club and esl possibilities. Personally I feel The Nexus should keep supporting NMM at the least until Vortex is out of alpha or simply replace the NMM 0.63.14 download with a link to the GitHUB NMM download page. NMM has esl support as of v0.63.17 and can download and install files larger than 2GB as of v0.64. In the meantime, check GitHUB for the latest NMM developments and releases.
