Deleted54170User
So people at the races can zip around to watch the race personally and don't have to sit in the stands waiting for the vehicles to come back around. That would be especially good if anyone ever invents these kinds of racing vehicles. Pod racers

Granted, it would be fun to watch the watchers..... (from a distance.....)

Granted, it would be fun to watch the watchers..... (from a distance.....) Flyboards would make it easy to make Quick hops along to each tracks thrill points, so you would see what some people only hear about and only view on a later video podcast or broadcast. Without a high overview; sightings would be difficult unless you were right in front where the crowd swarmed the area. Which they do. Some camp out all there in advance of the race. Crammed like sardines in a can crowding the roadside space on all sides with their Picnic baskets, and all day parties. The Formula One Grand Prix Races are a perfect example of what the Star Wars Pod Races could be like. :woot: There's a list of all the GP races in every country and there time and dates of racing here. TheMastersSon
Step 1 imo is federal law to restrict these to civilian use only. No law enforcement/military/other government uses allowed. Or else our police etc will instantly become practically close to omnipotent. Looks like we're too late already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAit7ZtetrA Apparently our FAA and military are way ahead of us. Read the video comments. One more reason to pray for the collapse of our current federal "government" imo. Apparently the exact same FAA has zero problems with Virgin Galactic testing their latest supersonic CEO shuttles in California: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/virgin-galactic-spaceshiptwo-successful-supersonic-test-flight-today-2018-04-05/ Edited April 8, 2018 by TheMastersSon

TheMastersSon
The more I watch these flyboard videos the more I wonder why Zapata doesn't add a vertical handlebar or other stability improvement to the design. With no support whatsoever except the shoes, one decent gust of wind and I think it's ride over. Flyboards and riders would respond very differently to wind gusts. Also Zapata says piloting an air flyboard is impossible without 50-100 hours of training on a water flyboard. So anyone interested should start there. He also gave some specs for the jets, his four main thrust engines are 250HP each. I don't think these flyboards will be passing a smog test anytime soon. :) Edited April 16, 2018 by TheMastersSon
