Help with headgear rigging.

Hey guys,

I've spent an hour trying to get my GP-5 gas mask to fit properly against the players head. I loaded up the humanhead.nif and attempted to wrap the model around it, but no luck. It either fits - but leaves gaps at the neck. Or it has no gaps - but the players ears and half the head is sticking out. Is there any programs to help with this, or could someone play around with the model for me? Thankyou very much.

(I have made an old gp-5 model but I took it off the site, it also didn't fit well either.)

Is part of the player's head visible through the mask?

If not there is no reason to keep it. Just make the mask use the head slot and it will replace the head altogether.

The mask only covers his head not and only part of the neck. Otherwise I would use head slot, but then you will see an invisible floating head :/

Can you rephrase please? That sentence didn't quite make sense.

Are you saying the mask covers the head but not the neck?

If that's the case you can just put a "fake neck" there.

If you want to send me the model I can show you what I mean.

Wow I didn't realise I wrote that, anyway what I meant is that the gas mask only covers the head, not the neck. So therefor is I use 'Head Bip' it will cause the players head to look floating since the neck has disappeared. Like the GP-5 gas mask in real life, it only covers the head.

Export the head along with the mask (for the neck) and use the Head body slot, essentially replacing he character's head with a fake one (part of the mask) so that it fits.

The same method is used with armor that shows skin underneath, since all armors replace everything but the head and hands.

That actually is a good idea. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks

Not the whole head... export only the faces that are part of the head, ie it's neck, that aren't covered by the mask. Obviously delete any hidden geometry.

But I have added alpha to the lenses therefor you need to see the players eyes.
