Do Texture mods make you crash?

As a couple of others have pointed out, texture mods can definitely cause CTD's. If that's the case, it also is definitely not skyrim, it's your computer. That said, there are other possibilities. For some reason there are a few simple sound mods that crash my game when I start a new one but work fine otherwise. If you are having random crashes though, and not crashes that happen 100% of the time in a very specific location, then it is most likely that your computer can't handle the memory load.

(I too am among those who can play for many hours without a single crash, and I have many mods installed, and certainly the majority of the most popular. My computer is a very good one though with top end stuff. I think that says something.)

My computer shouldn't be the issue. I have 4GB of Patirot Viper Xtreme ram, a superclocked GTX570, and overclocked core i5 2500k.

This is literally the worst game I have ever played as far as crashing and bugs go. I wish the game wasn't so fun. Then I could quit wasting my time trying to fix it, and throw it in the trash like should be done.

How can Bethesda get away with this? I hope someone starts suing game companies for putting out trash.

Tired of hearing all those self proclaimed saints "oooh my skyrim never crashes,it must be your computers fault" blah blah blah,Well congratulations, my rig has a i7 990x processor, 2 x nvidia GTX580 in SLI and 16gb of memory

so its definitely not the computers fault.

WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING BETHESDA for making the buggiest game of the century, had it been any other game i would have used it as a lethal frisbee a long time ago.

Most CTD related issues I read about come from mods and incompatabilities. Your exaggerating big time about "buggiest game of the century".

I play daily and never experience CTD/lag issues with the 25 or so mods I use.

Yes, a few quest bugs are present, but with a game so big and with so much to do how could there not be some faults here and there.

My advice if having CTD issues, just be more careful about what mods you use and check for incompatabilities in comments/description.

Yes, I am defending bethesda because of the 500+ hours of fun I have had in Skyrim :)

Thanks Bethesda for my favorite game of all-time, and thank you Modders for making it even Better!!!!

To those that are BGS fanboys and sprout the usual "But Skyrim is so big, you've got to expect a few minor bugs"

(Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, no offense meant, just to much coffee...)

First, have a look at the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" and see what that actually fixes (SO FAR) and what is still left to implement = Stop talking S@%& about their only being a 'few' bugs .. The game IS a buggy pile of doodoo.

Second, stop blaming peoples computers! As has been stated by MANY postees, their systems are perfectly capable of running virtually ANY other game on the market without issue and let's face it, a several years old game engine SHOULD NOT be this taxing on a system anyway, unless it so poorly optimized that they actually picked up the license for it at a yard sale for $25 because it was so crap . (Oh, and my Specs = Core i72600k @4.5Ghz (approx) 12Gb DDR31600K Ram, Velociraptor HDD, Win 7 64, So don't tell me my system is the problem!)

Third, have you played Fallout:New Vegas? The game area is very nearly as big Skyrim (and an 'open world' as well), with a great deal of content and a great many 'things to do' yet it has almost none of the issues that Skyrim has, and actually HAS many features that they REMOVED from the engine when making Skyrim = Obsidian at least no how to make a working game <--> BGS do not now how to make a working game.

Last and sort of BTT, I have given up on trying to play Skyrim in a true RPG style because the constant CTD's and frequent bugs are so immersion breaking that there is just no point, so now I just run around with my posse of (6) hot companions and "do derrings" + "Depress the Oppressed" and butcher the odd Thalmor whenever I get the chance. 'Coz, let's face it, we all have a bit of Barbarian in us, so running around toting a big sword, whilst wearing furry underwear, accompanied by a gorgeous wench(s) who is/are "Sworn to carry my burdens" <insert lecherous look here> is fun and almost endlessly entertaining!

I think these fanboys should take a look at the endless lists of complaints from all over the net, If this game is so perfect why are there so many complaints about it then????.

If you think its only pc players having problems you should try out the ps3 and xbox versions of it,Which becomes totally unplayable when your save data reaches more than 12mb,

We are talking about a freaking console game for christs sake.

Its the devs responsibility to make their software work properly, If bethesda could get away with printing blank dvds they would do so, As long as they get their pockets filled with money they dont care.

if this developement continues, Game companies should be forced by law to rate their product as B, B+,B++,B+++,B++++,Or even B+++++, Ha Ha Ha Ha who the hell would buy that ?????

Agreed with the couple 'o posts above me, I too ofter crash and I don't blame it on my PC. It should easily handle Skyrim. Also... Bugseda is famous for it's bugs.

All games have certain bugs, but I never played a game with so many bugs as Skyrim.

I'm utterly disgusted.. I uninstalled the game, for a magical 5th time, and to no avail I get constant CTD's. No game, ever in my 15 years of playing games has treated me this way. Super f***ing Mario on Super Nintendo never crashed.. So why on earth is a triple A title game in 2012 on a superior PC with up to date technology crashing so often? This makes NO SENSE. Obviously, getting ahold of bethesda is probably not an option, but I'd like to do that anyway.

Secondly, the clean install gave me issues.. Now I wonder if the unofficial patch here on the Nexus fixes anything?

Oh god, this page is hilarious. It's clearly Bethesda's fault your game is crashing and it's my fault it's not crashing on my computer.

Also, @ the guy comparing Fallout NV to Skyrim, one has been out for years, one has been out for a few months. Let that sink in for a little bit.

Brb, playing Skyrim.
