Converting .DDS files to .PNG files in batch

Hey all,

 

I made a tutorial on how to convert .DDS files (native icon files for war3 and wow) into useable .PNG files for modding/avatar purposes, using XnConvert and Photoshop.

The examples in the walkthrough are for large batches of files and processing them with automation.

Thought this might be of interest to the modding community here!

Relatively new to creating mods and wanted to give a shot to doing some texture replacement and this seems like exactly what I was looking for!  The link to the site redirects to WarcraftTavern though, do you still have that knowledge you can share? Thanks!

That user last visited the site in 2018, so it is unlikely they will be back. I would recommend Microsoft's texconv utility, it is a command line app that can batch convert between DDS and PNG (plus a number of other formats).

Paint.net.  Has native DDS support.  Open the DDS, Save As PNG.
