Working metro mod gone?

Well that sucks for the rest of us.

Yes, it was one I was looking at to add to - but now in hindsight, it just reinforces my original position of not using too many resources I don't have control over like that. Had I made a mod for that, and the original file is now gone - all my work would have been in vain.

I think I might have downloaded a copy, but even then, I don't think we can re-post a mod that someone else did can we? I'm not one to even consider 'taking credit' for another's work.

No, not without explicit permission from the original author. (REZ01 in this case)

Yeah, it does reinforce the the line of thought that your mod is best independent of of other authors works, plus a user may be more inclined to download an all-inclusive mod than one that says you need 10+ reference mods downloaded+installed just to get the one you want working.

Oh and I really like the metro mod, I have it installed. I'm glad to have downloaded it before it vanished.

Personally it's always bugged me how people seem to regard mods as their property. Once you put it out there people should be free to redistribute it without your consent so long as they don't change it or pass it off as their own if you're so inclined.

Any mods I've done I've always said "Do what you want brah"

Well, it is their content. They put the time and effort for the sum total of $0.00. It bugs me how some people feel entitled to complain about someone exercising their right to stop distribution of their own property. Guess we just missed the free boat. *shrug*

You set the conditions of your content to none, while others want some kind of (very minimal) protection.

One possible explanation is that they're getting tired of getting a ton of PMs everyday about people asking (or demanding) that they work on their mod to make it compatible with another mod. They've probably moved on to New Vegas or Skyrim and would rather not get PM after PM for Fallout 3 stuff.

Technically, anything posted to a public forum, like this one, becomes "freeware" and has no legal protection whatsoever. Someone could swoop in grab up all the mods on Nexus and try to sell them as thier own while the actual creators would have no legal recourse. I have seen it happen on another forum I am associated to. Myself, I try to respect the modders desires as far as his/her mod goes, since I appreciate the efforts that they went through to deliver us the mods.
