stebbinsd
I'm trying to install this mod ... https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424/ ... so can I move static items around, duplicate items I can't normally create in the workshop, and have more control over my rotation and placement than the vanilla system allows. I'm not too concerned with placing items in midair or intersecting with each other, since that's not immersive. But whenever I download the NMM version of this mod and select to install it, it doesn't show up in my load order. Even if I download and install the mod manually, it doesn't show up in the load order! Ok, maybe it doesn't need to be in the load order, pe se. I have a mod that lets me quicksave and hard save in survival mode, and that doesn't appear in the load order either, yet it still works. Except this mod doesn't work! I can press the insert key to be able to move an item, but the outline just doesn't change to green! The numeric keypad doesn't rotate or move the items! I can't place items in midair (not that I care about that, but the ability to do that WOULD be a sign that the mod is at least partially working). How do I get this mod to work? ZeroAndOne
Um, to use that part of the mod you would need to read that mod's description page which details how, the mod I believe is a F4SE plug in, so it loads into the game via that F4SE folder in the data folder. Wait for it ... .... Wait for it ... "YOU GENIUS!" LOL just kidding you know, friends are fairly mean to each other in fun, you know that thing we typically do as gamers & forgetting the internet would stop working if we were always nice to each other instead of being down right rotten awful to one another, which if you ask me is much more honest than being nice at all. Meh. I've never used place anywhere for anything other than the ability to have a bit more control of the placeable items inside the settlement menu. The mod does indeed have many features, but it's main use as being required is to make it less work to build stuff in the settlements. If you want to move everything in the game then it actually requires other mods & that does break the game, hence why we don't do that & instead resort to console commands to move the items which are located outside of settlements, but don't qualify to be made into a settlement via a actual comprehensive mod to do so in that specific area. Before all this, many players used console commands to move items around outside of settlements or inside too, to make very precise & detail builds of gamespace, and there is no real drawback to that way, it's only the disabling of preloading assets in cells/worldspace which creates the issue which breaks the game, I believe turning the entire game into a settlement requires the disabling of preloading, which it is useful to disable some preloading and doesn't break the game by turning off the rest of the preloading, you can look into it if you want, but I suspect you should read the mod's description page again to find out why your keys are not activating, I think it only does that if you are in Build mode if that by chance happens to be the cause. Good Luck & have fun.

JimmyRJump
Place Everywhere is a F4SE mod and doesn't have a plug-in. It gets installed inside Data\F4SE\Plugins. Place Everywhere has loads of extra functions that only work when in WorkShop mode. There's the F8 key to turn On/Off Place Everywhere. The F1 to F4 keys for snapping purposes, the F5 key to turn off WorkShop time-out when walking outside the build perimeter, the "ins" key to enable "Extra Objects" for the scrapping of normally non-scrappable items, etc. There's a text file that comes with the mod with all the keys and their functions, also found in Data\F4SE\Plugins. The above are default settings. If you want to change stuff you need to make sure the Place.ini file is present in Data\F4SE\Plugins. Anyway, it's all on the description page of the mod, which you, indeed, desperately need to read.

The mod simply isn't being installed!
JimmyRJump
The only other thing I can think of that would mess-up things is that you're installing a version of Place Everywhere that isn't for the FO4/F4SE version you're using. Place Everywhere has to correspond with the Fallout 4 Script Extender version it depends on. And to make sure if the mod is installed yes or no, have a look in Data/F4SE/Plugins to see if these three files are present: place.dll; place_example.ini and place_ini_help.txt (only the place.dll file is important). If all of the above requirements are met and it still doesn't work, then there's another mod that prevents Place Everywhere from functioning properly. Then it will be a matter of trial and error to find out which one. Best thing to do is run a test with only F4SE and Place Everywhere installed, get to Sanctuary and see if it works. Make a save for that purpose for future tests with your character ready to leave/just left Vault 111.
