Not This Earth
One 27.1[31]

Eddie managed to get communications contact with the people caring for his home, his pets and garden. Everything was fine there with some friends using the urban mansion as an escape fortress. Zombies had swarmed into the area to dominate open areas for a short time but then a well trained, equipped and prepared local militia had helped to deal with them. Lucky Eddie, and some others, had created the Free Militia along with others like it. It was one of the few such organisations that government, and professional private, forces actually trusted, respected.

His clone-sister, Essie, had arrived back from an assignment overseas, having cut that short in order to get herself and her team back to assist Eddie. Essie had brought others with her, people that would be needed in the crisis.

In coded terms she informed him that she needed to meet him back at the estate to pass on some very sensitive data that was very much linked to what was happening in that city at that time. It was very urgent!

Lucky Eddie, and the triplets, were soon on their way to his home via the underground network but they took others with them for he had offered up some resources that he had in the basement levels of the building.

Am experimenting with posting 5 episodes, of any story, at any time instead of 3 but firstly I will adjust episode numbers by sometimes adding even more extra ones at first... I hope that kinda makes sense.

They met the force of undead growlers far too close to Lucky Eddie's Estate for his liking. No mere zombies had 'turned' those powerful growlers to undeath for they now 'sensed' a powerful, experienced, vampire was too close for comfort. The undead growlers attacked in a fast shambling mode that was a sickening travesty of their normal power and speed. The four superassassins wiped out many of them before came surprising allies in the form of five damphirs, and four gargoyles, of the unlifen.

It was the start of a very important alliance but a violent one as they killed off the undead growlers. Still, it was an act of mercy as even such as growlers did not deserve such a fate.

The damphir leader was a tall, elegantly beautiful woman in a robe and exotic leathery armour. She had a very large autopistol holstered at her side, plus other devices, but used two glowing energy longswords as her main weapons. She had a fair amount of skin showing but so did all of the damphirs, male and female.

The triplets got closer to Lucky Eddie and he was surprised to 'sense' that they were protectively jealous of him. The damphir woman seemed to both pick this up and be quietly amused by this for she had no interest in Eddie on that level. As for Lucky Eddie he kissed each of the triplets quickly, efficiently.

Daria spoke. "We need the shelter of your estate. We have not just unlifen to care for, to have a base for, but some living friends."

Eddie nodded. "I will lead you into the estate but, for your sake, I hope that this is no trick."

She snorted. "No, it is no trick! We could have stormed your estate, if we had wanted to do so. It does not appear to have anything more than standard security."

Lucky Eddie grinned briefly. "It actually has Alpha Level Security with some special, even exotic, extras. The estate security destroyed over 100 zombies, and ghouls, just with its general autorobotic aspects. That is gun-turrets, shotgun-mines, flamers and such. Sometimes I think those zombies just want to die, they rush to their deaths with such eagerness."

Daria shook her head. "Giving what you have just old us, I am glad that we did not try to storm the estate."

The elegantly powerful vampire was a 'woman', was a vampiress and was highly annoyed. Though very dangerous she was not the real threat to that city let alone to that world. As she had come through from another world, an Alternate Earth to that one, she had been fleeing from another entity. It was incredibly powerful and it was even more exotic than she was, far more so.

She crouched in a semi-abandoned house across from Lucky Eddie's Estate and wondered just how she might reach out and communicate safely with him. She needed him, and his allies, but they also needed her and her information. The people of that city, of that world, had to know of the real threat if they were to survive. In turn she hoped to find a safe place for her vampiric folk to come to.

The real threat was out there, she could 'sense' it like a terrible weight pressing down on her mind.

Which was when three powerful damphirs entered the chamber but did not attack or even show any aggression though they were wary.

Even as the Vampiress, Queen of Vampires, began to negotiate with her new allies (of living and unlifen) the evil that she feared was moving quietly through the Undercity. The Undercity was a mixture of subway networks, utility networks, a big catacombs, criminal tunnels, old places of the former peoples of the area and others including some most mysterious. The 'thing' did not want to draw too much attention to itself, wanted to make preparations for its plans, but knew it could not wait too long to strike.

Unforgivable offences!

To fart in public....

To eat with one's mouth open....

To sneeze with out trying to use at least one's hand to stop the spray...

To use the wrong cutlery in a restaurant...

Oh, such offences, and more like them, could perhaps maybe deserve the death penalty.

Forget murder, robbery, and such like.

No, we must keep our true perspective truly true and our preferences correct, our attitudes in line, our....

Zombies From the Sky: One

Zero 1.1[1]{1}

It could have been worse, far worse! Yet it was bad, very bad!

Before the things fell from the sky, to crash into the sea or the land, many dreamed of the coming of the undead, the unlifen, the living-dead and the living monsters. Artists painted paintings, carved sculptures, and did other foreboding artworks. Some had waking visions and yet others went mad. Ironically it was often the 'mad' who provided most of the valuable, more obscure, less common information.

Governments could no longer ignore the coming threat for the foreboding 'visions' were amazingly consistent in nature. Nor were any of them allowed to ignore the threat for other factions, forces, would not allow them to do so even if they wished to do so.

The Visioning had begun more lightly in 1921AD but by 1941 had become very strong.

Preparations, against the coming threat, were growing strong across the world. This was despite the resistance of those who would not, could not, believe the warnings. Yet there were other others who fought against the preparations, who tried to sabotage them, whose agenda was darker and more complicated.

Zombies From the Sky: Two

One 1.1[1]{2}

The green purple comet like projectile exploded into the ocean with a great whoosh of water and a large amount of steam. Then two more struck the same immediate area. In seconds they were gone below the ocean surface.

It was a fishing trawler crew that spotted the comet-projectiles and who hauled up their nets early before departing quickly to the nearest, hopefully, safe haven. The old vessel was well maintained and did good speed which was wise considering the dangerous conditions of the area, both natural and otherwise. Nothing attacked it, there was no trouble. Yet the captain decided that from then on he would only work with protected fleets of fishing vessels as many owner-captains had begun to do.

The nearest safe haven was a smallish island with an outpost colony of the British Commonwealths Empire, the BCE. Yet it also had a well resourced outpost of the International Watchguardia set up to observe for coming troubles of the more exotic kind. As it was Watchguardia telescope observatories had already spotted such comet-projectiles coming towards the home world. There were also other forces there to assist based in outposts.

Two way radio communications were used to send messages to the nearest of the larger Watchguardia bases that leased territories from the Imperial Commonwealth of Australia. An alert briefing went to the British Commonwealths Imperial Governor based in the Imperial City of Perth. Briefings were sent to other destinations, to be on set to yet other places.

A small flotilla of vessels was launched to the coordinates given by the fishing trawler but before that went one of the amazing new liftergas airships; such airships could rise so high so as to fly above storms and most turbulence. They were a mixture of naval, coast guard and other units. Yet, as in other fairly recent incidences, they found nothing.

Comet-projectiles had so far landed in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. They might have been taken as being natural but some had been spotted slowing as they fell towards the waters and at least one had visibly changed course, though not greatly so.

So far none, leaving trailed of strange green-purple gas behind themselves, had struck land; it was as if they were being aimed at deep sea waters.
