sheetka
Hey guys, I've picked up 2handed specialization but I'm experiencing difficulties while in combat against certain opponents. I'm playing on expert mode and whenever I get some chief or better than average guy in front of me he hits for like 1/3 of my healthbar and I only strike for a really small amount.I'm beginning to think they maybe I've made the wrong choice picking up 2handed because it seems that my survivability is really bad like this. My armour is orcish, it's not enchanted or improved or anything plus I got this hot chick helping me in battle I also have spent points in restoration to heal me up and in blocking. Any help on how to improve my combat skills with 2handed or any other suggestions will be really appreciated!
fms1
Just lower the difficulty a bit until you level your character a bit, then increase it back.
worldofscotty
When I start the game I always play on master level. TBH it is almost impossible at times but I like the challenge. I always give myself a little extra health though via the console though. It allows the world to open up more so I can go places rather than hiding in whiterun hold until level 15. player.setav health xxx You'll soon get bored if you go nuts and give yourself too much but a little is good. I usually just start the game with 200 health 200 stamina Edited May 2, 2012 by worldofscotty
Georgiegril
You don't say your level, but with the orcish armor I am imagining you have been playing for a while this way? My first character was 2 handed. all conan style. I only used enchanted items/weapons or potions if I found them. I was able to get all the way through just fine. I put all my levelling into health/stamina and focused on the 2-handed and heavy armor perk trees. I found that early on, some of the bosses were difficult, as you point out, and sometimes they would kill me.I drank a lot of health potions. Later in the game I found that they were not much of a challenge. I found 2-handed a good way to simplify the game on my first go-through. Now I enjoy being a spellsword and spending excessive amounts of time catching butterflies for potions. :-)
sheetka
Sorry yea I just reached level 19. This is also the first time I play the game.I currently have 223 health so that seems to be a reasonable amount. I was just wondering if I was the only one with this issue. Guess ill just have to practice a bit more. are there any helpful tips like how to counter attack an enemy f.e.? I often find my enemy attacking at exactly the same time when I strike or he'll block with his shield and counter me.. It really feels I'm in a big disadvantage against ''bosses'' without healthpotions or anything.
Georgiegril
indeed, without health potions.... :ohdear:
fms1
If you choose to do so, you could place a paralyze effect on your weapon, and that would help tremendously, again if you choose to.
thompsonar
You are going to need health potions. Lots of them. If you do a power attack while they are blocking it usually keeps them from countering and/or staggers them. With the difficulty up, you should expect it to be harder. thomriis
I play on expert difficulty to and like the challenge it gives me, If you are playing like a warrior/beserker type its even more important bumping up your smithing skill, just smith loads of crap items to raise your skill. Get yourself a full set of daedric armor and with a workbench you can upgrade it well over 500 in armor rating. NOW GO OUT AND SLICE THOSE SCUM!!! It's certainly one way to go. I've hardly used smithing at all with any of my characters and been just fine. I know there are tons of people that power-level smithing, but it just doesn't seem right to me. I'm not saying don't do it, just that you don't HAVE to do it.
