Whatever happened to...

One of the things I expected to see in Skyrim was a mission to find the statue of the dragon that Martin became at the end of Oblivion's main questline, and rescue Martin somehow, so that the Septim line could continue, and Tamriel would once more have an emperor to unite the provinces and prevent wars. But Martin is all but forgotten in the Skyrim game.

Do you have any thoughts or opinions on this matter?

i really don't think that would fit all that well into this game. and i think such an event might cheapen the ending of oblivion. just IMHO, as always.

Martin sacrificed himself to get rid of the giant thingy guy and end the Oblivion disaster, being able to resurrect him would undo his sacrifice and wouldn't make any sense, plus it would be illegal because Necromancy is illegal!

If a royal bloodline was recreated it still wouldn't 'prevent wars' it would create even more tension especially after hundreds/thousands of years since a stable empire, because groups will always oppose outside influence interfering with their county like seen in Skyrim currently with pro-empire and anti-empire groups.

Uh.... We know where the statue is. It's the statue of Akatosh in the Market District in the Imperial City. Martin is about as dead as he can be.

Temple District*

I agree though. He'll probably stay dead and the empire will have to move on with another bloodline of kings.

Isn't Martin dead?

Well, not exactly. He was transformed into a dragon, then transformed into a statue, not a corpse. He didn't actually die. Perhaps the statue is a living statue. Ossified, unable to move, but still able to perceive his surroundings and nearby events.

So..any chance that statue is made out of carbonite? He should be quite well protected. If he survived the freezing process, that is.
