DabzterJinx
Desperately hoping if there is an online factor to this game, its optional at least.. I wouldn't mind a local Co-op, I can't tell you how many times playing FO4 with my gf we catch ourselves wondering how it could be if we could link systems.. but I also understand there might be a decent amount of code behind that.. lol
Mavkiel
Really on the wall on this. It seems like this game has the potential to try and get rid of free mods. My reasoning is you can't have folks modding their own game when its online. Also, their current dlc scheme of charging for single weapon/armor sets... doesn't give me confidence of them doing the right thing. (seriously, if they broke up any of the official dlc, and charged like they do for the market place ones, it'd be expensive as hell.)
UhlanB76
This new Fallout game raises a couple questions for me. My background for games was totally on the PC up until about 7 or 8 years ago. At that time I was a big fan of the Silent Hunter submarine series. I played version 4 constantly and it was the last of the series to be offline. Version 5 did basically the same thing as this new Fallout version, requiring constant online connectivity, which I didn't have. The complaints were loud, even from some real Navy submariners who couldn't play the game while at sea. At that time it was obvious PC games were going to steam and the online world. I decided to move to a game console and reviewed the ones available, with it coming down to PS3 or XB360. The XB360 also required a network connection just to use it; while the PS3 allowed for offline single-player standalone. I went with the PS3. The PS4 provided the same capability when it came out. Every game I have on the PS platform is a standalone version (up to FO4, Dishonored 2, Far Cry 4, etc.) and only required online connectivity for multiplayer actions. I haven't looked at Far Cry 5 yet, but it seems as if there is an unwritten agreement between Sony and game developers for PS games to have a standalone version. The world of mods may be the restriction there but I'm interested in seeing how Fallout 76 meets that soft Sony requirement.
Moksha8088
The Bethesda E3 press conference will take place Sunday, June 10th at 6:30 PM Pacific Time, and can be seen Monday, June 11th at 2:30 AM Nexus Standard Time. Check google for viewing venues. This conference can hopefully relieve or confirm these worrisome rumors.
cancerparty1
I can already tell how this is going to pan out if it becomes co-op multiplayer. Player 1 : "Hey, man! Where'd you get that neat looking gun?!" Player 2 :"Oh? This thing? Well, I got it from something called the Creation Club." Player 1 : "That's awesome! Can I get one too?!" Player 2 :"Only if you're willing to pay for it, and you can't wield mine since I'm the one that bought it." Highlord83
Well, I guess Fallout 4 modding will never die, not like there will be any on 76.
BlackRelic27
As long as solo playing is an option, I will definitely consider it, and that's what I'm hearing. And not a weak, afterthought of a solo campaign. If I get that, I'd probably eventually dabble in the online experience to. Options for players earn goodwill. Moksha8088
"The game is set in West Virginia, which director Todd Howard called one of the most important and interesting places in America — and a good place location for the game. The game tells the story of the first people who left the vault. The difference in Fallout 76 is that each character in the game is based on a real person. Fallout 76 is entirely online. That doesn’t mean that players won’t be able to have their solo-mode gameplay experience if they wish, though. Options for single player and multiplayer are included. “You’ll be able to join your pack of rowdy 12-year-old fellow players whenever you want, and all of your progression goes with you,” Howard said. Hopefully, clever modders will be able to alter gameplay in order to make the single-player experience to be enjoyable. Since it is entirely online, the first thing modder would need to do is figure out how independent mods can be added that are not under Bethesda's control. Maybe Nexus should consider a major server center located on some Indian Ocean island for legal purposes - or maybe that idea is totally unnecessary. I am hoping both the solo play concept of Fallout 76 and the existence of independent mods that one can download from the Nexus continues.
Moksha8088
Wonder if this will be your potential co-op group?
Netherworks
I'd be seriously surprised if there was any mod support for this. It's going to be pay $60 for a premium game and then pay for micro-transactions (Creation Club). Wait until it has bugs that never get fixed and no community pack to fix them. I just don't see it going well. I'm not very happy about this but if others are.. then great. I'm happy for you. I'm going to opt out at this time.
