I have swtor and I'm really enjoying it. Partly in due to being a Star Wars fan and partly to being a Bioware fan.

Recently however I have seen some things about Tera and it looks to be an interesting game I am wondering if it is worth jumping ship to go to Tera or should I stick to the MMO i know

Tera's a very mixed game. The graphics are impeccable, the production quality is very high(though not to TOR's level, and the game is generally triple A but it's not without some crucial flaws aswell, namely the fact that it's basically grinding from the tutorial to level cap, with nothing to alleviate or even gloss over the fact this is easily the most repetitive game I've ever played. Secondly, the aesthetic of the game has caused a lot of controversy-specifically the fact that female characters are so oversexualised that it's genuinely embarrising to watch gameplay-example being a spell where female characters bend over, pulling up their skirt(if they're even wearing one) and wave their microkini "clad" backside at the camera. This isn't your typical WoW or KoF style Boobs N Swords game, it's video game pornography taken to a level I just haven't seen before. Perhaps even worse is the fact that a whole race of characters are portrayed as hyper-sexualised children(girls about 10-ish in microkinis) Perhaps the worst of all though is that the microkinis are the censored(!) version of the game-come final code they'll be wearing even less, supposedly.

Personally, I find TERA to be morally disgusting and unplayable for that reason. If you can get past prejudices like that, you may enjoy it a lot. However, I've played both, and TOR is on the whole a better made game, having much better combat, community and content, though it does lose out on graphics and animations, which are comparitively bland. But then again in TOR children are just children and women don't run into battle in a half-pulled-down microkini bottom and a belt around their bust. I can't really explain to you just how hyper-sexual TERA is to someone who hasn't played it, all the animations female characters have are innuendo or suggestive in some way or other, and it's this fact which put me off it more than anything else, you however, may like it, I don't know, but it's a fact of the game I can't ignore.

The one I can really advise as an alternative to TOR is GW II. I've played the Beta and it really is lookin' fabulous. If TOR is a near-perfect Co-Op MMO, GW II is going to be PVP nirvana... server VS server PVP and all that jazz, + an absolutely excellent aesthetic customisation engine, great graphics and an OK setting. The only weakness being what feel after TOR, utterly souless conversations and truly terrible voicing.

You have to install malware in the form of Origin to play TOR, that's worth thinking about.

That's actually completely incorrect, I never saw a single mention of origin from first install (boxed edition) to level 50, let alone requiring it to play.

Boxed still requires an Origin account, do you seriously trust EA with any of your details? I sure don't. http://www.swtor.com/info/faq

Will I require an Origin account in addition to a SWTOR account?

Yes, you will require an active Origin account in addition to a Star Wars: The Old Republic account. You can create a new Origin account by going to the Origin Account Registration page, entering your email address in the appropriate space and clicking “Start my EA Profile.” This will take you to a screen where you can create your EA Master ID and set your password.

You can also start a new Origin account by logging in with either your Facebook or PlayStation Network accounts, or by downloading and running the Origin client for the first time.

All accounts in EA forums are renamed as Origin Accounts, you don't need Origin installed to have one.

i just got SWTOR a couple weeks ago too and im very much enjoying it. gotta say honestly though, its pretty dead at low levels (which is obviously where i am) so many Heroics and flashpoints im not getting to do until i can solo them which is pretty boring. most low level players i find just decline coop requests. and SWTOR doesnt have a dungeon queue, which it desperately needs. im not a big MMOer, ive only ever played WoW and that was for less then a month. but the thing i loved was the dungeon queue. i could play the game while in a queue then do instances which broke up the monotony of grinding. SWTOR desperately needs something like this.

I been looking at swtor forums for a while now, for some info about the game...i wont proly try it out, but i have to say the forums over there are hilarious...hate and rage everywhere.

Tera looks nice, but knowing korean mmos, it sure must be a grindfest as others have pointed out..but then again most mmos are.

The only mmo the keeps me interested so far is Archeage with its sandbox style gameplay, but god knows when that will come to european market, as they still are in beta testing as far as i know.
