wesaynothin
WHich was funner? Playing as a newb, the whole world in fron of you, everything new? Or now, where you are a super-powerful demi-god ready to pounce on tht one Daedra lord you've killed over 500 times.
MajKrAzAm
Thinking about it now it was much more fun being new to the game. You would never go to the daedric shrines or the wilderness because you'd be to afraid of the big mad monsters. :P ...man I miss those days -MajKrAzAm
thanateros
For me the experience of being powerful (though not uber as I still am level 58) can be suprisingly more enjoyable than being a newb, not because of the challenge element but because sometimes you'll find that NPC who will actaully put up a decent fight and make you think about what you're doing. Granted, Daedra no longer pose a threat when it used to be the first sight of them would make you high tail it outta there, but you can always turn up the difficulty. And the expansions are a good way to keep things interesting. Sure the world being new and yours to discover is always exciting. Being low level, trying to figure out the character is one of the marvels of such open ended gameplay. But having risen to the top of one or two guilds and made a name for yourself is also fun. Your characters' ambitions outside of questing start to work their way out of the woodwork and you get a fine tuned sense of the direction that you will take the game aside from what's programmed. Beginner or veteran the game allows you to essentially live through your character and watch them grow in an environment with countless opportunities to develop your character's identity. cmac
I would have to say i liked it better being a complete newbie to Morrowind where everything was a new experience and I didn't know how to do anything. I remember my first game how I walked into a Daedric shrine full of Orcs (trying to find Balmora) and was killed. I definitly miss the days where everything was a new experience. I kind of wish there was a "rewind" button for Morrowind so I wouldn't remember all the stuff.
batesmotel34
For me there is a certain amount of trade off between the sense of wonder and discovery when the game is new to the frustration that comes with fighting with the game mechanics and idiosyncracies until you become familiar enough with them that you don't have to consciously puzzle out how to do things, e.g. which key to press, etc. So probably the best time is some where after the frustration from not knowing how to do things within the game has diminshed but before everything is old hat. If nothing else, now a days it's hard to feel anything like the sense of fear I felt the first couple times my character was attacked by a cliff racer and I had no idea where the attack came from. Given the range of options open to the player in the game, I've certainly found it quite worthwhile to start new characters which make different choices and explore paths my previous ones haven't, so that the boredom of a character so powerful that the games ceases to challenge hasn't been a reall issue for me. In a lot of ways I do find that low to intermediate levels (upto 20th or so) are the most fun, at least in the original Morrowind areas.
Breton Thief Oriana
so then water ISN'T two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen? oh, sorry. For me, it is funner being all experienced, because there are still all those battles that I can't fight--they're too tuff for me. And plus if I wanted to be a n00b again i'd just make a new character.
Camonna
but even if you restarted you still know EXACTLY how things are done (what quests and such) I liked being a newbie but after I stopped playing as an orc because everyone hated me!! But once I used imperial they have been my favourite ever since!!
Rune
I have to admit that I liked the 'newbie' sensation better. The whole world was opened up to me and I couldn't really sense the hugeness of this game. I remember being afraid for my life when I walked near a Daedric shrine or ventured too far out into the water. When I would come across this really cool item, when I didn't worry about what skills I was building or my rank. Before I ever knew about the console... If I had the chance to be a newbie all over again in the game I would definitly take it.

Acoran
I prefere a knowladgeable n00b. Confused? What way I played was I mae a good 15 characters each one a little more 'well made' than the last, until I finally mad ethe character that became UBER. My favorite time was playing that character. becuase I had learned what worked, and what didn't in a character. But I was still ignorante for the unfolding storyline.
