So i switched to vortex recently and everything went fine. But not i got the problem that i have installed mods and they show under mods but the plugins are not there. After looking at the folder of the mods they are empty. Do i really need to redownload 100 + mods because vortex managed to delete them ? Is there a way to redownload installed mods

When you installed Vortex and your mods, did you import the mods or did you install them individually? Did you use the default paths or custom paths? When you say, "After looking at the folder of the mods," does that mean that you clicked on "Open in File Manager" in the Mods task bar and found no mods in the file manager?

Please excuse all the questions, but answers to them (and perhaps others) would enable me or someone else to better help you with your problem.

Absent answers to these questions, you might click on "Deploy Mods" in the Mods task bar to see if that makes any difference.

You've come to the right place with your question. There are a lot of people much more knowledgeable than I who post on this forum. I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

I importend like 80 mods from nmm and installed like 30+ with vortex itself. I used a coustom path and i changed the path recently to test something because I'm getting a new ssd to avoid long loading times. Everything was alright with it but i got some problems later with plugins not showing but that got fixed by deploying them. After that i started vortex to install every now and then a new mod and i had to deploy the plugins every single time. In the end i had that problem again and clicked on deploy plugins , which deployed only the recent installed one. Uppon clicking on the "open in file manager" i saw there are no esp , esm or any other files inside the folders. 100+ mods had only the folders but nothing inside. Now im busy with installing everything back.

Thank you for your respond

Um, by chance do you have a filter set? Something in the column header that would filter out all your mods? i.e. if you have it set to only display Enabled mods and all your mods are currently Disabled, the list will be empty.

Is it possible that at some point, you or a tool you used deleted all the mod files from the game directory and then you had a "external changes" dialog in vortex telling you that files were deleted and whether you wanted to apply those changes permanently and you clicked apply?

This is the only constellation I can come up with where Vortex would delete mod files while leaving the directories around.

that did pop up but i clicked on undo. It was good after that and i closed vortex and started fo4 and everything was normal. Next time i opend vortex to download a new mod everything seemd right untill i wanted to sort the mods. All of a sudden they were gone. RN i redownloaded almost all mods.... is there a way to backup my mods ? ^^ i copied the .zip / .rar files in a other folder.

  • 9 months later...

My mods just now vanished also 250. spent all day dling them and all last night organizing. woke up told me to login. clicked login. auto purged the list.

Vortex does not have an auto-purge feature.

Please provide more detail, using the guidelines found here: How to Request Vortex Support.

Also, since the thread in which you've posted is rather old, you may want to start a new one about your problem.
