PsychoWedge
So, I wanted to give Vortex a test run, just to take a look at what you fine folks are doing over here. I downloaded the latest custom install location version (1.0.14.3) and I installed it on my d: drive under \#mods\vortex. Now when I start it nothing happens for a while and then I get the vortex icon in the systems tray. There I can start a game or quit. Nothing else. I'm running windows 10 with the latest updates. Is this a known problem and is there a solution?
zhesam
Hm, im using Vortex since first alpha on Win 10 with all updates, tried both custom and default installations - also for testing purposes, almost every Vortex update i do a clean installations, during this sometimes i got some strange behaviors, but Your case never pop up.... And i suggest you to better try default installation version with custom "mods" folder(can be set up in Vortex game settings). Custom installation now less supported. SkunkMonkey
The latest version is 0.15.1. You can always download the latest development version at this link: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/releases
rmm200
The latest version is 0.15.1. You can always download the latest development version at this link: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/releases 14.3 is still listed as Stable Version. If Stable Version is not stable - we should be told. I go with previous comment - don't use Custom Install. A new user is asking for problems deviating from default install.Your mods and game directory can be anywhere - but put them on the same drive. PsychoWedge
I also installed the standard version. It's the same. Vortex doesn't open at all. I only get a systems try icon with start game and quit as options.
PsychoWedge
huh, the unstable not to be found on the nexus site version 0.15.1 works for me. Time to take a look at this thing. I like what I have seen so far. :)
Tannin42
I should point out thata) Vortex is still in alpha - no matter if you have the "stable" or "testing" (aka "beta") versionb) "stable" just means that that version has been tested for a while and no "show-stopping" bugs were found during the test whereas the "testing" version hasn't yet gone through a lot of tests (that's why it's "testing" and not "tested"). That doesn't mean the "testing" version can't contain bugfixes that the "stable" doesn't or that it can't - in fact - be more stable for many users than the "stable" versions. That's why it's "testing" and not "unstable".
sopmac45
Despite all the problems some users have had with Vortex new version ( testing ), I have not had any at all. I am able to open Vortex and I have been able to install/enable new mods ( a couple of more for my Fallout 4 game ); also, after I installed my mods, the deployment took no more than 10 seconds to finish ( for each mod ), so I have not had any problem on my end.
