Virde Posted July 2, 2018 Share Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) Mockup Image: I was tossing around interesting idea concepts from other games and something struck me from the Fortnite/PUBG/Rust/DayZ franchises and thought of this as a concept. Airdrops happen randomly, Luck stat can influence frequency but should still remain rare. Drops should occur within player view so that they know and are given a reason to go explore towards that area.Loot should be random with a small chance for Legendary Items.Boss chests have a small chance to contain a smoke grenade that summons said chest at thrown location.Lore-wise the drops are explained that it is Drones piloted from AI left over from The War that are running off of old orders. I am far too much of a novice in using the Creation Kit/GECK to be able to pull this off. I can, at best, make the level list for the drops but as far as making the drops occur or smoke-grenade summon them is beyond me. I could probably make a smoke grenade that simply summons a chest before you in an unimmersive fashion but would have no clue on how to make said chest vanish. The crates could be marked as one of the 3, perhaps with gear that is more faction specific (different leveled lists?) such as BOS armor or energy weapons, gunner armor or ballistic weapons, and MM gear from the Militarized Minutemen mod or a similar minutemen overhaul. There should be a three tier system: Tier one: A Powerball - a large gear bag with ammo (100-300 rounds) and grenades, maybe a few stimpak or Radaway. Tier two: Care package - small crate or chest with all of the above, plus random weapon and assorted ammo. Tier Three: Skid drop - all of tier one and two plus assorted high level goodies such a armor or even a mister gutsy! Where you get some sort of audio indication (or any sort of indication) that a supply drop is coming, and you need to go get it for some loot. But if you don't get there within a certain time frame bandits will have gotten there first. That or it can be some sort of configurable percentage chance. I'm not sure how it could be integrated in line with lore, but eh. Would it drop from a vertibird or something? But then why would they do it? You could have it like the system in Mad Max where a crate of supplies blows in from a sand/dust storm (like the ones in True Storms), but then you wouldn't have the iconic image of a crate falling gently to the ground with a parachute. You don't see it drop, just get a strange radio broadcast, then a map marker. It's not easy to get, though, as there are dozens of zombies and freaks around it, due to the noise. For FO4, IMO, a dozen or so enemies attracted to it would be more of a challenge than just a Gunner or two :) But, there's lots of scenarios/ideas that would work. Maybe not even limited to 1.
