How To Make Saves

Hi, On my PS3 I have many slots for saving gameplay. Now iI am using the PC and I only seem to get two slots to save in: Auto save and quick save. When I click on 'New Save' it says I have saved successfully but it doesn't show up in the slot. What can I do to get more save slots? I don't want to go inot an Oblivion gate without some saves. :(

I think if you hit the escape key. It will give you an option to save the game.

The PC version of Oblivion allows for a practically unlimited number of save games.

Instructions should also be in the pamphlet that came with the game.

And you can open the console and type: Save nameofyourchoice ; useful to identify games by character/placement

The console command savegame is handy too. You can name the save what you wish. Hit the ~ key and type savegame <name>, eg to save a game before starting the main quest, savegame pre-mainquest.

Edit: You posted that while I was typing nosisab, beat me to it.

How do I open the command console. I even got the "Ring of Gods" so that I could open the command console by using the tilde (~) key but no luck. Can I access it by other means? I really appreciate any suggestions.

The "tild key" may be misleading at non US keyboards, as a rule the correct key can be reached as the lefter one above the TAB key (often left the number 1 key).

But beware the console in Oblivion is just a text prompt in the botton left part of the screen and doesn't shows as a framed window (overlay).

Edit: hitting again the same key closes the console

Edit2: CuChullain, your answer was even more accurate than mine, kudos to you :)

Ok, I went to the website listed here. I removed the infrared thing and tried again. Now during the game when I hit the tide key a cursor appears for me to write in text. That's not it right. Only a cursor appears. Maybe I'm getting close. My PC is just XP 32 bit. Of course I have downloaded the other stuff like the "Ring of Commands" and the OBSE. Wish I could figure this out. :wallbash:

It's right, this is what appears at first. You just type the command you want.... now if you wish to see, try typing "help" without the quotes and hit "Enter".

Edit: You can navigate the text with the "page Up" "page down" "home" , etc keys

Edit2: remember you need to quit the console to return to the game. The console can be called in the normal game or in the menus too.

Edit3: just as curiosity ... if you press the "caps lock" key or quit the console while pressing the shift key your PC (player character) can start running instead walking and vice-versa. If some strange behavior arises open again the console, press the offending key, quit and all must returns to normality.

Edit4: Some commands needs a target, when so this target can be supplied directly or can be marked clicking the object wished as that target.
