I've read a bit about it, and apperently settlers unassign themselves when you have too many of them. At the vanilla game, it usually happens when you have over 20 of them, right? BUT I am actually using the Expanded Settlement Population mod, right here:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1613/

So is this perhaps caused by the fact that I have 5 different settlements connected with supply lines? A lot of them HAVE been managing a lot at once, so it makes sense that my engine can't handle that much. I guess the simple solution is to get rid of the supply lines, but in that case, how do I do it? I've been using robots provided by the Automatron DLC for that, and I don't want the game to permanetly crash if I just simply use console commands. So, what's the safest way to get rid of robot supply lines? And will that actually fix my "Settlers unassigning themselves" bug?

I'm using the same mod, but the five-hundred settlers option. Got ninety settlements overall with 38 discovered of which 29 have settlers and all are inter-connected by supply lines. In an earlier game I had a few settlements with over or close to a hundred settlers and never had the problem with settlers unassigning themselves. What does happen however is that when you accumulate too much puriefied water and food, settlers will no longer get assigned because there's no need to work the crops. In that case you'll need to empty the workshop of all water and food to be able to assign a settler to crops. Settlers that have a job will walk around the settlement until there's again a need for food.

It seems to have worked. I literally went to every settlement and took out all water and food in the workshop, except the castle, which I didn't connect with supply lines. So I guess I'll have to continue doing that regularly to avoid them leaving their posts?

Well, either way, thanks. Appresciate it.

No problemo.

You could have a look at the Uncapped Settlement Surplus mod that does away with the limits on stocked water and food. Loads of food and water attracts settlement attacks, so, maybe also check the NSA - No Settlement Attacks mod if you don't mind not having any attacks at all.

The current version of "Uncapped Settlement Surplus" already comes with options to tone down (or even disable) attacks. So no need for a second mod.

If you like having some attacks, but don't want to be forced to show up every time a settlement is under attack, you can use "Better Settlement Defense":

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20137

I like that combo: If I want some action, I can go and help defend. If I'm busy saving the Commonwealth or helping another settlement, I can simply ignore the attack and let my settlers defend themselves.

Didn't even know the Uncapped Surplus mod now has a setting to completely stop attacks. Overlooked that one tiny added sentence in the description. Thanks. One more plug-in free space.

THAT being said though, I've already been using the "No Settlement attacks" mod, but it IS the first time I heard about the "Uncapped Settlement Surplus" mod, and I'm very interested in it. Will it cause conflicts with the "no attacks" mod if I already had it installed? Should I uninstall it?
