How to Duplicate Items?

First of: I hope im in the correct forum. I tried to figure out where I was suppost to post this and this is my best guess. If im wrong please move this post to a more suitable location. :confused:

This is not really a request for a mod, it's more of a question if there is a mod out there or if there is a way to duplicate items without a mod. When I google it the only thing I get is a way to duplicate items using a bow and some arrows. However, when I try this I get a line saying I can't drop items before I finish my currecnt action. And the items I want to duplicate are some armors from various mods so their Item code is not in "the list", so to speak.

I also searched TESN for a mod but the only thing I found was a mod which duplicated NPC's. It feels like there should be an easier way than to stock a companion with the stuff and then copying that npc just to kill it and loot the duplicated Items? :blink:

So I turn here.

-Is there an easy way to scramble out the Item code from a custom item or perhaps a mod out there that can easily do the job for me? {EDIT - Preferably in game?}

Thanks for taking an interest and reading my post. Any helpful reply is appreciated. :thanks:

Well heres one method (needs TES Construction Editor you can DL it form the main site)

1. open tes construction editor

2.go File -> Data

3.select all the mods (you have)

4.look for them under the Item -> Armor/Weapons/Ammo categorys in the Object Editor

5. if you find one from the mod right next to "Editor ID" is a hidden category a lil sliver you can click and drag it out to the right its called the "Form ID"

6. write the code down thats in this category (the code next to the item you wants editor id)

in step 6 the form id is the code you use to spawn the item useing the player.additem code "#"

in console

to open the console press the ~ key in-game

Happy Dupeing!

This procedure will work sometimes but fails if there are esps inactive in the list. simpler is downloading a mod called "Formid finder" here in the nexus.

the complete version needs an OBSE plugin called "pluggy" but even the less featured one will help identifying the item.

Thank you guys for the help but I do think that both of your solutions are "complicated" to install, at least compared to a .esp file or preferably nothing at all. In addition the Construction kit soultion seems complicated to execute as well.

Is there no mod(or perhaps some skilled person who can do one quickly?) which does something like: add the FormID to the item tooltips? Or perhaps one which adds two chests somewhere which works so that when you stash something in the green chest you can loot the exact same item an unlimited amount of time from the blue one? Or something in the likes of it? or preferably a leak in the game coding so I can dupe items without mods?

Thing is im playing on a sucky comp which is my dads, since my crashed some month ago and I don't know whats wrong with it. :wallbash: And I already have bout 30 mods in the game and it starts to lagg if I play for more than an hour or so. More mods - more lagg. And a longer time to shutdown/startup as well. Thats why none of your feel like the solution im hoping for. But thanks again for trying to help me. :thanks:
