Nadimos
i think it is kinda wasted tax dollars. it was on tv, that ppl still can smuggle stuff through the scanners and all of that. also where is it gonna end? from my pov it is just scare tactics being misused aka security gone wrong u know. Beriallord
http://www.boingboing.net/filesroot/201011111141.jpg You know when your government is filled with tyrants when everyone is assumed and treated like they are criminals just to get to a small 1 in 50 million who might actually do something crazy on an airplane. And you know the people have turned into cowards when the majority allows and tolerates this treatment and behavior from their government. I don't even think they took security measures this far in Nazi Germany. Unless someone can come up with cases of the Nazis strip searching grandma, or giving little Johnny a cavity search. Lisnpuppy
Must we really compare every little thing to Nazi Germany? I would get a strip search by the TSA any day rather than to have lived in that time and place. So consider the comparisons you make a bit better as I find that one just bordering silly. It might sound silly now, but honestly we aren't too far away from that point. Maybe not in the mass murder/racial hate position. But definitely from the authoritarian/police state position. They can already search you without a warrant, or proving any criminal intent, wire tap your phone line without a warrant, lock you in prison indefinitely with no due process if you are deemed a threat to national security. How much farther do they really need to take this? Within the decade the internet will probably be heavily censored/monitored like it already is in many countries around the world. No we are not anywhere near it. Really you need to read history a bit more. I have things to do so I need to address this in a longer thing later...or maybe not for here at all...it may be really off topic. The Patriot Act (which is the thing that allows most of this crap to happen) and the current work the TSA does is not the same topic for discussion. Also I really don't think of SS agents shooting and beating and dragging people away at the dark of night equates with the TSA making you take your shoes off....or any orifice search they may do. Now if you wish to discuss how the Patriot Act is the beginning of a slippery slope that you see as leading to Nazi Fascism then maybe we need to start a new topic. I will be honest that people throwing around comparisons of things to Nazi Germany make me want to smack folks. I had relatives in WWII and in Germany...they saw this crap that happened. I also consider myself a bit of a historophile (did I just make up a word? lol) and have studied both formally and on my own these times (even wrote my graduating univeristy paper or propaganda and how it helped lead to the invasion of Poland in t he second world war) and I really think we need to be more careful in throwing that imagery around. Yes things need to be changed and we need more debate on how this country (the US) is going to address terrorism and public/national safety...but comparing the current TSA to the Nazis......*shakes head* If nothing else...they are not near efficient enough for the comparison.
