Deleted50127451User
So i did a fresh reinstall of F04 and when i tried to download F4SE i got this message saying that i had a different runtime than the one listed. I have no idea why my runtime is a newer version than the one on the website, Do they have to make a new version or is it my problem?
Arneercool
They will make a new one, but it usually takes a few days. This will happen every time Bethesda pushes a new update, so take that time to go over the options you have as to avoid this happening again. But you should start by turning off auto updates in steam and only launch the game from the f4se. There is also a few ways to rollback fallout to fit f4se, but i can't help you with that in detail. HadToRegister
Why not install Fallout 4.exe backup and avoid this every update?Yes, once I saw "Fallout 4 Update Required" in my library (I have AUTO UPDATE turned OFF), I put steam in offline mode. Steam still won't let you play if it knows that an update exists.Launching f4se_loader.exe will, though. There's really no need to go offline to avoid updates. The trick is, assuming you have your game set to "update only on launch", to run steam (not the game, just the application) at some point in your session before launching through F4SE. Don't need to keep steam open, as long as the steam processes are running in the background (which happens the first time you launch Steam) then F4SE launches the game directly. Otherwise, launching through F4SE will trigger the steam launcher which is conditional on an updated game. It's not foolproof, as I have a bad habit of eventually forgetting that I haven't yet run steam and launch F4SE, followed seconds later by an "aw dammit!" But, if you're not as foolish as I am, you can go for as long as you like on your current exe.
