Okay so my game keeps crashing and I don't know why. Skyrim SE with SKSE.
My game will sometimes play for 5 minutes, it will some times play for 30 seconds, its weird.
It will load up fine, so I think something conflicts causing a crash, my pc's temps and load %'s are all fine. So i assume it must be my load order.
This is my load order:

GameMode=SkyrimSE

Skyrim.esm=1
Update.esm=1
Dawnguard.esm=1
HearthFires.esm=1
Dragonborn.esm=1
Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp=1
UHDAP - MusicHQ.esp=1
RealisticWaterTwo.esp=1
Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp=1
Immersive Patrols II.esp=1
dD - Enhanced Blood Main.esp=1
icepenguinworldmapclassic.esp=1
SMIM-SE-Merged-All.esp=1

JK's Riverwood.esp=1
Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp=1
Immersive Citizens - OCS patch.esp=0
JKs Whiterun.esp=1
Friendlier Taverns.esp=1
EEKs Whiterun Interiors.esp=1
SPTDiverseGuardsSkyrimSEBruma.esp=0
SPTDiverseGuardsSkyrimSE.esp=1
Skyrim Better Roads and Bridges - All In One - Merged.esp=1
S3DLandscapes NextGenerationForests.esp=1
Dwarfsphere.esp=1
SkyUI_SE.esp=1
Immersive Encounters.esp=1

Run For Your Lives.esp=1
Obsidian Weathers.esp=1
Veydosebrom - Grasses and Groundcover.esp=1
EnhancedLightsandFX.esp=1
ELFXEnhancer.esp=1
Full Magic Scaling.esp=1

Can someone please tell me what i may be doing wrong, i'm defeated and clueless.
All responses and advice welcome.

Very first sentence is probably your biggest problem

Okay so my game keeps crashing and I don't know why. Skyrim SE with SKSE.

you NEED SKSE64 not the regular SKSE

2nd problem - You can NOT use that many mods with out a bashed Patch from Wrye Bash

3rd problem - you make no mention at all of using any of the tools that insure you will have a stable load order which are - LOOT, Wrye Bash, and Tes5Edit

my guide - https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2235394-beginners-guide-to-modding/

Not true. How would Wrye Bash solve this if you don't even know what's causing it? I get that you'd like everyone to use Wrye Bash but it isn't the answer to every problem, and not everyone needs it. I played Oldrim for years with 100's of mods, created mods, merged mods, and never even installed WB. Now on my second play-through with SSE with about 100 mods, and my game runs fine without it.

You have no clue as to what you are talking about.

Besides the obvious leveled lists that Wrye incorporates into the bash, it also does things in the background that the regular user will never see or even know about. It can also be used for many other tasks more than simply using a bashed patch. When I wrote my beginner's guide to modding for Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4 I spent 6 months collecting information so that when I finally wrote the guide i knew it would be as close to 100% as possible.

Wrye bash can be used for far more than the bashed patch. Using the saves tab in Wrye I have been able to reconstruct players complete load orders and solve their problems. Using Wrye normally will tell you if you have any orange or red mods, Explained in my guide.

My advice stands, USE WRYE.

NEVER say Wrye bash is not needed

Well, I just said it. And again, I have never needed Wrye Bash. I would not touch my beautiful Skyrim with your nasty Wrye Bash.

So, back to the original post. I would clean the masters using this guide. And I would use LOOT to sort your plugins. LOOT should put RealisticWaterTwo near the bottom of your list, and SMIM would go just after USSEP.

You've only got 27 mods, and a Bashed Patch for such a small handful of mods isn't necessary, because the Bashed Patch only handles conflicts in the LVLI, LVLN, and LVSP records, and I don't see any mods in your list that need their leveled lists merged.

Also, you have Immersive Citizens AND "Run for your lives" installed, which is unnecessary.
"Immersive Citizens" will make the Citizens run for cover as well, so using the two together isn't needed.

27 mods is really tame compared to what people usually end up with.
I started out with just about 10 mods for Fallout 4, and somehow I now have 230 installed.

If you truly want to patch things thoroughly, then use Mator Smash, as it will manage conflicts in

AACT, ACHR, ACTI, ADDN, ALCH, AMMO, ANIO, APPA, ARMA, ARMO, ARTO, ASPC, ASTP, AVIF, BOOK, BPTD, CAMS, CELL, CLAS, CLDC, CLFM, CLMT, COBJ, COLL, CONT, CPTH, CSTY, DEBR, DIAL, DLBR, DLVW, DOOR, DUAL, ECZN, EFSH, ENCH, EQUP, EXPL, EYES, FACT, FLOR, FLST, FSTP, FSTS, FURN, GLOB, GMST, GRAS, HAIR, HAZD, HDPT, IDLM, IMAD, IMGS, INFO, INGR, IPCT, IPDS, KEYM, KYWD, LAND, LCRT, LENS, LGTM, LIGH, LSCR, LTEX, LVLI, LVLN, LVSP, MATO, MATT, MESG, MGEF, MISC, MOVT, MSTT, MUSC, MUST, NPC_, OTFT, PACK, PARW, PBAR, PBEA, PCON, PERK, PFLA, PGRE, PHZD, PMIS, PROJ, PWAT, QUST, RACE, REFR, REGN, RELA, REVB, RFCT, RGDL, SCEN, SCOL, SCPT, SCRL, SHOU, SLGM, SMBN, SMEN, SMQN, SNCT, SNDR, SOPM, SOUN, SPEL, SPGD, STAT, TACT, TREE, TXST, VOLI, VTYP, WATR, WEAP, WOOP, WRLD, and WTHR records.

I use Wrye Bash to adjust and lock my load order, plus it also show you the mods AND LOAD ORDER, THAT EACH SAVE GAME USES, making it very handy to re-create the environment for a particular savegame if need be.
I use that, along with Mator Smash (I only make the bashed patch for the game tweaks) and have a crashless Skyrim SE experience.

@Tony it "seems" to me all you want to do is start an argument over using Wrye, that is why I am removing myself from this thread, I have better things to do than argue with ANYONE on the internet

@MrWooper, if you need more help feel free to PM me directly :smile: and listen to HadToRegister, he knows his stuff as much or more than I do, and that's the first time I've ever said that

No, there's no argument from me. I just stated my personal preference which is derived from my experience. That would be pointless to argue, so I agree you should have better things to do.

Update: as it turns out my problem was actually just a corrupted save, it would live for maybe 5-30 seconds, i could walk around and stuff, and then it would crash.

My fix: revert to an older save and attempt to play the game, if it doesn't work i recommend to continue reverting back farther and attempt playing until it seems stable.

@Moto says Moo, i actually was using skse64 i just never specified that it was that.

However in my trouble shooting process i actually did download LOOT and i would say its quite a helpful tool to anyone who is modding and doesn't have it.

i recently helped a friend make an extremely modded Skyrim SE, and after we got everything he wanted i told him to install LOOT.

@HadToRegister I actually have closer to 120 mods, however most are 4k textures as I enjoy the most vanilla feeling experience.

Thanks to all who replied.

Hello.

I was also in trouble with Crashes (to Desktop) for a while and my experience was that:

After I updated Skyrim SE to Version 1.5.39 and SKSE64 to 2.0.7, I had some random and some reproducible Crashes to Desktop with NO Error-Messages or noticeable Log-Entries in Papyrus-Logs, Steam-Logs or Windows 10 Event-Viewer.

Some of them occured while fast travelling, some while loading a Savegame and some just during Gameplay...

So it was like Hell to find out the Reason(s) why.

After 3 Days Odyssey of searching the Web and trying this and that, I finally found a (simple) Solution that worked just fine for me:

Do NOT clean the native Update.esm and DLC-Files (Dawnguard.esm, Dragonborn.esm and HearthFires.esm) with TES5Edit (SSEEdit) !!!

After I restored the original (dirty) Files from Backup, I never got a Crash or any other Error with my Setup!

Maybe this Solution is helpful for some other afflicted Users too...
