[CTD] Loading a savegame results in crazy events, then crashes

Hi there.

 

I'm not completely new to modding, though I'm not an expert either. Using NMM, LOOT, SSEdit (cleaning and merging, occasionally I remove something from a mod, if it causes conflicts), BodySlide.

 

I've been experiencing a strange bug with my modded Skyrim Special Edition - after installing a specific type of a mod (not sure which it is, what's causing it), I start a new game and test stuff. Everything works perfectly fine. Every piece of armor from the armor mods I merged is available and properly textured. Even combat, gathering, crafting, questing, dialogues etc, no issue at all.

 

But then I save the game, load it again, and there we go. My character (if female) spawns naked, without hair (bald), or dressed (if male), and inside of me spawns Camilla Valerius, also naked and without hair.

 

Simultaneously with that happening, my character automatically shoots frosty breath-of-some-sort, infinitely, damaging the spawned Camilla Valerius until she dies, and throwing her around the room. The physics and angle of the throwing around seems to be affected by the direction my character is facing - if I move, she gets thrown on a different place. The game crashes to desktop after a few seconds of this.

 

While this is going on, my Destruction skills goes up and up.

 

 

The first time this bug appeared was when I installed Ordinator (with all the required patches, ofc). Took me a while, but then I realized it might be Ordinator's fault - it's a mod affecting spells, and this issue seems to be spell-related. So I uninstalled Ordinator and the bug disappeared. I could play, save, load a game and everything was fine.

 

Then, after a while, the issue came back - when installing Relationship Dialogue Overhaul. Strangely, the bug consistently kept appearing and disappearing when I reinstalled and uninstalled RDO again.

 

Now, I installed a bunch of armor / weapon mods, everything works fine. I decided to make a NMM backup.

After that, I tried playing again to try out one of the already installed armor mods.

But when I load the latest savegame, again I spawn naked and inside of me spawns Camilla Valerius, I shoot frost breath in front of me and game crashes after a few seconds.

 

Generally, this is the only and biggest issue I've experienced. I really wanna know what causes this...

 

 

At no point of me trying to solve this issue did sorting with LOOT, updating animations in FNIS or re-building clothes in BodySlide help me.

As I mentioned, I've merged some plugins with xEdit's MergePlugins script 1.9 in SSEdit (TES5EDIT). I merged: patches for Legacy of the Dragonborn, patches for Audio Overhaul Skyrim, a lot of armor mods, a lot of weapon mods. Also tried merging a lot of standalone followers, however, whenever I did that, the option to ask them to follow me disappeared from their dialogue options.

 

 

 

I'm getting really helpless and understand if you couldn't help me. But I'd very much appreciate any help, if there's a glaring mistake / stupid thing I'm doing wrong, please, let me know.

Exactly the same happened to me...after a break i wanted to play again and had problems to start a savegame....i figured out it was my enb...

reinstalled all mods and installed a new enb...and now these weird things happen... and it doesn't matter, where i am in game and save it...after loading ths save game i am in Riverwood and the party is starting...

any ideas?

Likewise, but not as bad as the original post has, just loading game makes my character bold, I imagine it has something to do with Racemenu, but no idea that :/

Yes.

 

Going over the mod limit.

NMM reports 254 but it is false.

 

It happened to me with Skyrim LE. It is a bit of a shock.

 

Yes it has something to do with Racemenu and it also happens with ECE.

I think it is a skse error. It happens to me sometimes when I load an old save.

Trying to fix it in showracemenu usually cases a CTD so I install a new version of skse first. That usually fixes it.

I can confirm it was defiantly due to being over the mod plugin limit

I learnt to fix it via merging mod ESPs as it helped stay under the 255 limit!

Load order was my issue Vortex was giving me a bad load order had to, fixed it by using LOOT after using Vortex.

Great I'm having the same issue of Camilla Valerius stuck in me but she will not go away. I have my mods under 255, I updated the racemenu to the newest version, the only thing that worked was uninstalling Ordinator. Now I have to fix VRIK body disappearing agian. sigh....

 

Edit: Fixed, I move Ordinator to the bottom of the Mod installing list of MO2. Now I just need to get my body back in VR.

I've been having very similar bugs, however my female character spawns in front of Gor in the Sleeping Giant. The unfinished quests and the mods restart. Perhaps I am over my limit as well?

I get the naked thing sometimes, afaik from BOSSE (BOSSE manages many undress events in my game) . Also some sort of visual frost effect is applied to my player character when I'm first spawned into the game, although I've suspected that might also be a visual associated with the lingering affect of a ring, necklace, piece of armor, or some blessing I got along the way.
