kevkiev
I didn't really get the story of that quest. Can someone summarize why the guy burned down his house, killed his entire family, then ran off with a vampire? .... I recall that it's set out in Alva's journal. It wasn't the guy who did the deed, it was his wife who was under Alva's vampiric influence and, much to Alva's chagrin, screwed things up. Considering Alva's journal became public knowledge (or at least was known to the Jarl), it's very weird that if she ends up surviving the cave attack she just goes back to Morthal like nothing happens. It wasn't HIS wife was it? I thought Layolette (sp?) was a different guy's wife. Because he confronts you when you enter the graveyard.. Either way the father was in her power. I mean it's hard to miss her sleeping in a coffin in the basement and he protects the house while she sleeps. 99% sure the wife died in the fire. nofear88
""What exactly is a "vampire's thrall" (yes I googled)? "" There are many answers for what a vampire's thrall is... to me there are either charmed people who's minds are taken over by powerful vampires to: 1. be thier servants and do thier bidding2. Look after them in thier coffins or otherwise during the daylight hours3. be a source of continuous blood.4. be an infiltrator of a settlement or city. There is another type of thrall that acts in the similar fashion but is called a "Ghoul" as seen in the Vampire: Masquerade series of games as well as Eddie Murphy's Vampire in Brooklyn film where a Vamp gives a mortal a bit of thier blood and they immediatly are given slight vampiric powers, immortality, enhanced strengh, durability, hightened senses and a psychic connection to thier vampiric master but still retain the ability to eat, sleep and reproduce. They require constant blood from their masters once or twice a month

Rossum
Just yesterday I completed Laid to Rest while I was still level 2 (I used the Altered Start: Live another life mod so I started the game owning a farm near Morthal). I managed to beat all the vampires and thralls there using a hunting bow, the conjure familiar spell, and Meeko the dog. The one villager who decided to follow me was worse than useless and his only contribution was to complain about how he just wanted to run his farm, complain when I was sneaking around a vampire lair and accidentally look at his backside he occasionally shoves in my face (he probably thought I wanted to pickpocket him, as if he'd have anything of value) and constantly get in my way and shove me off ledges when I tried sneaking up on the vampires. I killed Alva, she might have been hostile but since she was responsible for this whole mess, got an innocent girl killed, and was obnoxiously aloof every time I talked to her before this, I figured it would be morally wrong to let her live otherwise. Plus, she's a vampire and in-game if I let her live she'd just spread the plague and cause more trouble elsewhere. Technically there is a cure for vampirism but I think it requires using a filled black soul gem... which requires killing someone and stealing their soul. So even it I hadn't already made up my mind to kill Alva the second it was legal to do so, then leaving her alive without risking another outbreak would technically require killing someone else and sacrificing their immortal soul to give her a second chance to screw up. I just don't like her enough to do that.
LordZukasa
I didn't really get the story of that quest. Can someone summarize why the guy burned down his house, killed his entire family, then ran off with a vampire? What exactly is a "vampire's thrall" (yes I googled)? Alva is a vampire that is connected to Morvarth, probably just one of his vampires. They want to establish their vampire circle into Morthal and slave all the humans there. To start this Alva started to manipulate Laelette, who ended up burning down Hroggars house. Hroggar himself got seduced by Alva and is under her control aswell. When you start the quest you will find out that Hroggars daughter Helgi is a ghost still running around and Laelette is trying to save her soul. Helgi wants to play hide and seek with you at night and when you find her you find Laelette with the coffin Helgi is in. You kill Laelette, Thonnir shows up, tells you he though she left and that she met Alva the night she wanted to leave. But that was just a lie. Cause of this clue you go to Alvas house and you will find a coffin in the basement with a book in it. Depend on which time you go in there you find Hroggar and/or Alva. Whatever you find it will attack you. After that you go to the Jarl she gives you some dudes to hunt those vampires, you go their cave, Thonnir will stay with you the other 3 or 4 will just turn around for no reason .... you go in there kill 2 spiders, kill 2 guards then you find yourself in the bossroom with Morvarth and 3 other vampires. If you havent killed Alva cause it was night and she wasnt there she is in this cave and will pretty much onehit the other vampires since she counts as "friendly npc" for no reason. And thats why I'm here I wanted to find out what happens when you let Alva alive since she is evil but she counts as friendly.
Rethrain
I think I let Alva live in one of my playthroughs by accident. I wasn't particularly interested in her, but she is completely friendly after that. I suppose she still lives in...what was his name? Hroggar's house. As I've said, I thought it was funny at the time, but didn't pursue it any more than that.
saurusmaximus
I've done that quest like four times and sad to say, I had no idea letting her live was an option. Something new for me to work for...
ShinnIkari
Guys, I need help. I left Alva alive, even rescued her in 'Rescue a Citizen' quest twice, and found her at the inn numerous times. One day, I returned to Morthal and found that Hroggar thanking me for saving him from Alva. Also found a skeleton in front of a house there. Anyone experiencing the same thing? Thanks!
