newman55 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Hi to all.I want to ask something about the API site. For my mod https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/21/, I want to add an update checker. In the source code of the Vortex, I found the web request I needed.https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/node-nexus-api/blob/master/samples/modinfo.rest.But for it to work I need API KEY.Is it possible to use your API for other programs and how do I get API KEY?Thanks.
Staff MrMason Posted September 13, 2018 Staff Posted September 13, 2018 We're working on this currently and will be issuing API documentation and the ability to register API keys soon. Be aware that anything used in Vortex before release on the API could change at any time, so I would advise waiting a little longer for us to release the documentation.
newman55 Posted September 13, 2018 Author Posted September 13, 2018 Thank you very much for your reply.
BoltTheMan Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Id like to be able to add an update checker for my mod as well, its been a couple months, any ETA on when we can get api keys?
Staff MrMason Posted November 20, 2018 Staff Posted November 20, 2018 We're currently working on the documentation, making sure we have a good test suite and finalising all features for the 1.0 API release. We also need to work on dishing out API keys for things that aren't Vortex, so there is still a bit of work to do.

Any good sign on the documentation and release for 1.0 API ?
Tannin42 Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 There is a good chance the web team doesn't follow threads on the Vortex forum so here's what I know: I've seen the api documentation and it looks pretty great and mostly finished. I'm not sure how far we are regarding API keys. Keep in mind that this probably also requires UI on the website to give users an overview of their keys and the ability to retract them as well as behind-the-scenes administrative tools.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted January 7, 2019 Community Manager Posted January 7, 2019 We'll make an announcement of sorts once it's ready for the public :)

Is there any restriction on the api ? Such as, a premium membership?
