The_Warrior_of_The_Light
I think bethsada should make the elder scrolls IV a multiplayer game. Because to me playing with the computer is good but its funner to play with friends.
The Mantis
So true. But it would be impossible. It has been requested an infinite number of times. And every time the makers of morrowind said no.I agree. It would ruin the mood. And the gameplay. Just think. Your character sets of towards red mountain. To defeat dagoth ur once and for all. To end the suffering of a kingdom and become its savior. Then an argonian named Pimpy Ho female dog Slapper comes out of no where and kills you in 1 hit. Darmoth
I think a multiplayer game could be added tastfully, though it would indeed have to be something other the singleplayer campaign. I think that the game Neverwinter Nights, pulls off a multiplayer RPG gracefully, though with respect it has DnD to back it up. Though my theory would be to implement a "PvP" type multiplayer, I mean, with certain changes, and using various armors players could even recreate historical battles. Working together with other players, building your character to fight the enemy team, using various tactics. As for the implementation of character development, it would have to be something relatively quick and easy to jump into, probably not a persistant world type battle... because some poor level one Nord would show up to fight the good fight with his friends who are also new, only to be slaughtered by someone who's level 74 and has 90+ in all abilities. A good example of how this might work in a balanced manner is the developement of the 'heros' of Warcraft III in multiplayer. But I digress. I would however ask that my post not be picked apart, as by no means is an actual plan, nor does it go into detail, these are all loose conceptual ideas as to how a multiplayer mode in the ES:IV could work. Draconium
it would be a good idea, but they'd have to change the entire basis of morrowind... think about the line in front of creeper :P anyways... do you know how big of a site would be needed to host an online morrowind game??? and you'd need the best of internet to get even decent movement but a link via network might work send that idea to morrowind
HeLLL
I think the reason why Bethesda has said no for was the amount of programming it would take to implement this. Just think if an NPC in Khuul has a despostion towards you of 60 and and someone else (PC) that was playing in the multiplayer enviroment had a despostion of 10 towards the NPC in question. Now think of how many NPC's there are. Let say 100. Since there is 2 PCs playing and 100 NPCs that could each have a desposition from 0-100 there is 20,000 (approx) possible varibles that would automatically impact on how the game was played between the two PCs. Where would that information be stored (cached). You would need one heck of a grunty server to pull off some of those althograms and the trying to program how each NPC interacts with each PC in real time (so it can correctly correspond with the other PC orcordinly) would be a challenge in itself :D Though I must say Darmoth the idea of a PvP type multiplayer would be an interesting idea. Maybe if it was more of a duel and not a full world exploration (re above for some complications.) It could possibly work.
Baphomet
Then an argonian named Pimpy Ho female dog Slapper comes out of no where... That almost caused me to blow my coffee out my nose... LMAO.
thanateros
I've talked a lot about this with my friends who play as i'm sure many of you have. we agreed that massive multiplayer would essentially ruin the overall tone and setting of the game because of the vast number of people who simply don't care about making the game environment genuine. what we did come up with was an ip or lan option that we thought could work more successfully than servers. with LAN you know who you are playing with and typically people are better about keeping the style of play consistent with what the game provides. As with Pimpy Ho female dog Slapper it sounds like the 12 year old PKer's are out in full force again. my solution them is to walk around wearing only common clothes and then whip out some distugsting spell....they can't see rings and ammys so you could really own them that way too. somehow i think it would get rather annoying if everyone walked around the map with their hands ready to cast some spell, it would just look plain stupid. Darmoth
Come to think of it... a dueling thing might be pretty dang cool. I imagine it could work some way similar to the duels in Jedi Knight II, but imagine mage on mage combat, duking it out with spells and counter spells... that would really require some thinking. HeLLL
True, true. But it wouldn't be impossible. By the way is there any counter spells? (other than reflection of course)
The Mantis
That almost caused me to blow my coffee out my nose... LMAO. ITS TRUE! It would ruin the entire atmosphere. Thomas entered the tomb. His sword soaked in blood. This was the final moment of truth. Then pipy ho female dog slayer the argonian enters. SUP! T-day man! I was lmao b/c dis ho was up in me face. And I was like female dog! You best be backing of b/c u aint gont nothing against my poo! And she was like dont make me summon some bad ass niggas on your ass.
