Deleted1932859User
always try a fresh save, now thats a 1.6 savegame thats clean without mods before posting anything.the error may not exist within a different savegame. this IS a clean save.http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19927 otherwise it looks like a quest bug or load order issueCompanionsHousekeepingScript.psc is used in many mods like UFO and Race mods.try re-installing related mods, also try installing Racial Compatibility v1-7it includes this script. It could very well be UFO because I'm using that at the moment but dont have any companions. Might just get rid of it.I will try a clean save by disabling most script altering mods and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice Apogee :D
mike2977
Last night I put Steam on my new notebook and then downloaded Skyrim. I set all display settings to low and unchecked the HiRes packs in the load order of the Data menu. I created a new character and ran him through the opening sequence. I decided to create a wood elf and give him archery skills. I got my first bow in looting a corpse and when I drew the bow and fired my first arrow, CTD !!! Reasonable specs on the notebook; Core I5 processor; 4gb RAM. Intel graphics. So definitely not MOD related, and shows that the basic Skyrim is just set up to fail from the start, even before doing any mods to it, which as I've stated before is the primary reason I purchased the game for the PC. I know what its like :(I very carefully chose which mods to instal, taking note in which order I installed them but somehow some line of script/code always manages to bugger itself up. Sometimes I can play fine no problems others CTD every 15 minutes. Maybe my pc has pms...>.< I removed ufo which I hope was the cause for the random ctd's just after making a new character using the live another life starting choices. blitzen
Not surprising, really. Skyrim seems to be much more unstable and bug-ridden than Oblivion was on the PC. They should have done a clean rewrite of the game engine, instead of hacking the existing one. This does not bode well for the next Bethesda game. If they make the next Fallout using this same engine, I'm not going to buy it, unless we see some significant improvements between now and then. Having one game that crashes and locks up regularly is enough. I would also exercise caution with the Dawnguard DLC. I have no plans to download it at this point. There are supposed "General memory and stability optimizations" coming with patch 1.7. Perhaps the unthinkable will occur, and Skyrim will suddenly start working well on the PC platform. We might want to start a new thread. I believe there may be a limit to the number of comments allowed per thread, and the OP is gone at this point. Perhaps a thread specifically for scripting errors, and another for general crashes/lockups that don't seem to be tied to a specific papyrus error. Killerbuddy
I started my own thread about a couple weeks ago to spread some awareness about one aspect of instant CTDs and new game freezes at the start,l I hope some people here find it useful: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/729491-memory-taxing-mods-for-skyrim/page__pid__5877331__st__10#entry5877331
steve40
As far as I know, there is no fix for corrupted scripts in the vanilla game it's something that either Bethesda will need to fix or somebody has to manually open the .psc file and change the code inside it. UKSP 1.1 will fix one of the corrupted scripts, so perhaps they will fix more in the future. Perfectly fixable. fxDustDropRandomSCRIPT errors *FIXED* dunBluePalaceArenaSCRIPT errors *FIXED* Cheers 8)
