Vortex does not install mods properly

I don't really post on forums so I apologise if this isn't done correctly.

So I was having a similar issue with Fallout 4, just installed and started playing it a couple days ago and got back into Nexus. Found out NMM was old, moved over to Vortex and downloaded a few mods. Simple enough, though I had the downloads folder on a different drive to the game installation and staging folder, still no issues.

The problems started when I installed mods that required the script extender F4SE, I installed F4SE as instructed and then installed the mods that required it. When I started the game up and loaded my save the mods "Remember Pick Angle Updated" and MCM hadn't shown up. Long story short after running the F4SE executable again (after I'd installed it before those two mods) I got a message that I didn't really understand but I think it noted MCM being for an older version of Fallout 4 and then it started the game up. RPAU worked this time however so I looked into seeing if Vortex could start the game up using F4SE and it could. Setting the "tool" F4SE as the primary method to run the game (through clicking the three dots in a vertical line) solved the issue with RPAU. I also disabled, uninstalled and removed MCM given I didn't really care too much if I had it, playing a very lightly modded Fallout 4 as a first time.

If that doesn't help maybe the antivirus could be the issue, BitDefender kept blocking everything I was using including Fallout 4 and SE until I gave them permission. A couple of those times it pretty much left my PC on a black screen with the loading mouse animation (couldn't see task manager when I opened it) so maybe there were issues I accidentally created by not being used to set up by antivirus before installing mods.

Is this the first time I should be wondering why a mod's working for me when it shouldn't be...?

That said, when I was testing to see if the mods were applied to the game I only loaded my save in and tried picking the lock in front of me. The lock pick angle was remembered but the option for MCM wasn't shown on the pause menu. Alongside that I haven't received any error message when loading up F4 though again I didn't play long. Maybe it's a fix applied by Vortex in regards to RPAU?

The version of F4SE I used is 0.6.20, RPAU updated on the 6th and I think MCM was also running for F4 1.10.162 but the latest is 1.10.163 (I don't know hat version F4 is running on atm)? I was literally downloading and testing those mods within 2-3 hours of my last post which is the same day you said the update came out, let me double check MCM since there was an update for today.

Just checked both RPAU and MCM are working, well I didn't really look into MCM but the option came up in the pause menu so I'm taking that as a win.

I had the exact same problem as mentioned here...I fixed it by running vortex as an administrator (though I am not sure that is necessary)....and after enabling the mods I wanted....I pressed the deploy button at the top of vortex....presto it worked

You shouldn't run Vortex as an admin.

Instead you should stop running everything else that Vortex interacts with, as admin.

call me numbskull or wtv, searching and reading regarding mods not working which doesn't have esp files still not found any solution fix.
I tried with vortex, MO2, mods was installed and deploy but plugins not showing as a result can't seem to work in game.
And I tried to install it manually but still no result, I don't know what I'm missing...
I installed the mods organizer in the same directory as the game is, everything is in order, every mods that has esp files are all working properly,
but this one heck of a mod that doesn't have esp files are the most annoying, and that's because I can't seem to make it work or I'm just plain stupid, I don't know..

HELP!!

This is the Vortex Support Forum, you said you were using Mod Organizer.

my mods just didnt install

That's not helpful at all.

Nobody knows what mod manager you're using, or what game you're playing, or what mods you're trying to install etc.

You've given no info, also, people keep necroing, and hijacking this 3 year old thread instead of starting their own, just adding "Me too"
