Kiki981
I need to post this. It's a bit funny story. I love Skyrim. For me personaly is one of the best games. So until yesterday I was playing LE. But after making some mod mistakes, game loading time was unbelivebly long (sometimes even around 2 minutes). Not even save script cleaning helped. And I always had problems in LE. Mostly with CTD(s), game freezing, stuttering ... So my playthrough was mostly just fast traveling to quest markers snd mostly no exploring. But yesterday I uninstalled whole Skyrim LE. And after thinking I installed SE. To be honest this was difficult decision for me, becouse I have installed SE once before and the game was so slow I couldn't even come to main menu. Even the music and sound were choppy and freezing as hell. So I thought that SE is to demanding for my rig. But now when I installed SE I couldn't belive my eyes and ears. The game is working as a charm. To be honest it works much better than LE. No CTD(s), no freezing, amazing graphics... And it runs without problem with about 200 installed mods and some 4K textures. And with all this I didn't even get 1x CTD. I avoided exploring in LE becouse I got CDT few minutes into walking in Skyrim's open world. But with SE, I was exploring today for almost 5 hours (walking around, ridding my horse) and as I said, no CTD, no freezing, no stuttering. I really enjoy exploring now. And with some mods I feel like I'm not even playing the same game. I love it. And one thing that surprises me is loading time. From LE (2 minutes) to SE (15 seconds or less). Amazing. Only problem was, when I installed Simply knock mod. And I didn't know that is not working in latest version of SKSE64. And everytime I started game it instantly crashed. So I didn't know what was wrong. So I reinstalled game, reinstall all mods that I had and after doing some research I found out, that all I had to do was to uninstall Simply knock and not the whole game. I felt like an idiot. But now I know. So I'm very happy that I gave SE another try, and that I can finally play Skyrim as it should be played - exploring.
JohnnyMcBride
Yes SE is far more stable for mods. Using LE you need to apply mod science like 4 gig patches, safety load etc. Not needed in SE I agree. Nice post assuming LE the new buzz word for Oldrim I take it..
LeddBate
It is always nice to hear that someone has discovered Skyrim "all over again". Don't know why your first foray into SE was such a problem. Maybe a corrupted download the first time? Anyway, glad you now can explore Skyrim without issues. If you don't already have it, I highly recommend Arthmoor's "Alternate Start - Live Another Life". It's a great way to start a new game without having to go through the Helgen sequence yet again. Also, it's great if you just want to jump straight into certain facets of the game like the Civil War -or start as a new recruit of one of guilds (Thieves, Assassins, Mages, Companions, Dawnguard...) thumbincubation
There are some nice plug ins for it, too. I just finished (ie: added the wrong mod and destroyed...oops) a playthrough as a Vigilant of Stendarr. Kinda fun.
