XtomJames
So I downloaded the latest version of Vortex and went to install it. It runs, says there will be a delay as it does stuff without a load bar, and then disappears. Now it's just running in the background chewing up processing power. It's been running like this for half an hour already. What's going on?
SirSalami
Though it may seem obvious, try to ensure that you can't alt-tab to a Vortex related screen that may have been hidden somehow. Otherwise, feel free to end the process via your task manager if needed. If you try and run the installer after that and this continues, can you provide a screenshot of the message you mentioned please? Also, do you notice any load bars at all? Does the Vortex logo appear? This info may help us diagnose the issue. Thanks!
XtomJames
Okay; I get the Vortex logo but no load bars. It just sits there on screen. I can't tab to it and the icon disappears from the taskbar. The only two indicators that it is running is the Vortex logo and the three Vortex processes running in the Task Manager. It also seems to be the case the new Vortex wiped out all of my Skyrim SE mods from the old Skyrim SE folder I had from the old Vortex, but it seems to be fine with the Fallout 4 mods. I'm not getting any express error messages, just the warning messages that come after the installation where it says migration is needed. I know for a fact that it takes only about 5 minutes to migrate my mods for both Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE (yay for M.2 SSDs). So two hours is ridiculously slow. XtomJames
This is the initial warning I get: http://i64.tinypic.com/akdez6.png But as you can see in this screenshot I can't alt-tab to Vortex: http://i63.tinypic.com/359mlmw.png
Grestorn
It's copying your mods, because the place they're stored had changed with that update. That can take a while. Maybe just be more patient. Is you HDD active while Vortex is unresponsive?
XtomJames
Vortex chews up GPU, but my ssd utilization drops off after 10 minutes and I can't bring Vortex to the forefront. The other thing is, when I look at the folder it's copying stuff over to, it's clearly finished after 10 minutes, it just doesn't finalize and bring up the GUI for the program. It's like it's getting stuck in the initial migration setup process and then loops.
Grestorn
I guess this cannot be resolved without Tannin himself...
XtomJames
As you can see from these screenshots all file transfers are complete, but it's still throttling my CPU to 70%+http://i64.tinypic.com/b5h8wi.pnghttp://i68.tinypic.com/29e0q69.png
XtomJames
So any suggestions as to what is going on with it or what I need to do to get it to work?
Tannin42
Could you send in the vortex.log file? (Found at %APPDATA%\vortex\)
