Any idea what could be causing random CTD in workshop mode?

I don't recall when exactly the random ctd started or what mod I had just downloaded. My game is pretty heavily modded (nothing gameplay changing, just quality-of-life stuff especially for workshop mode)

For a while now my game has been randomly crashing while I'm in workshop mode, especially when I'm either selecting, scrapping, moving or placing items (no specific items I've noticed but it used to be especially common with lights and prefabs)
No difference between vanilla and modded items, either.

Sidenote it also appears to happen more regularly when I'm editing a settlement that has had that item in it for a while.

that sounds very much like the 'scrap crash' that has plagued this game since day #1.

good news for you, this last week, a fix for it has been found. you can read about the fix here;

you will need to download and install f4se to be able to use the fix but i can assure you, from painful personal experience, this fix works! these last few days, I've been able to resurrect games that were rendered unplayable by this bug. give it a look and see if it matches your issues, and i wish you good luck.

This is why I quit Fallout 4 for a while and am playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I'd get to a certain point in my game, and then I couldn't get near my settlement (Sanctuary, or Tenpines) without a CTD

I'm going to test this as soon as I get home. Settlement building is my favorite thing to do so not having CTD while I'm building will be a lifesaver.
