Nothing is happening

Despite the fact that I HAVE checked that box that says handle mod manager buttons, nothing happens when I try to download anything.

Vortex will open if it isn't already, but that's it.

Yes I did google this problem, all results said to "check the box" but, again, it didn't work.

What else did you do beside checking that box ? I am under the impression that you have not setup Vortex to auto-deploy your downloaded mods, or am I mistaken ?

Can you also please elaborate your second paragraph or sentence : Vortex will open if it isn't already but that's it …. sorry I do not understand what are you trying to say with that !

Did you transfer your mods from NMM or MO or not ?

If not, did you play your game vanilla and saved it ? Did you activate your game in Vortex ?

Can you give us more information please because we do not have a crystal ball to guess everything you have done ?

What the second meant was if I haven't opened Vortex before clicking the download link, the program opens up but no download happens.

And by "auto-deploying" do you mean that check box in the interface settings under Automation? If so then yes, I never touched it and it's on by default.

My problem is that no downloading ever happens so deploying is a bridge I'll cross when I get to it.

Also, this is a clean install we're dealing with. I have gone to the in game mods from and downloaded one there successfully.

You must be logged in to Vortex for the mod to download and after, go to Nexus game mod page and download your mod. If auto-deploy is ON, then you mod will be downloaded and the only thing you need to do is to click Install and Vortex will auto-deploy your mod.

Also, make sure that Auto-Sort is Enabled in the PLUGINS section so your plugins will be auto-sorted by Vortex as you are Enabling your mods.

Remember that LOOT is integrated into Vortex so you do not need LOOT if you are using Auto-Sort in Vortex. If you want LOOT instead, Disable the auto-sort, however, I do recommend to use the Auto-Sort in Vortex.

Last but not the least, let Vortex to auto-sort and TRUST it blindly. Do not change anything in the Plugins section. It does a great job by itself and I am telling you this by experience, so the only thing you need to do is to be :

- Logged into Vortex to be able to download your mods

- Have auto-deploy ON

- have auto-sort Enabled

- Resolve your mod conflicts via rules ( I recommend to choose : Load After ... the last mod installed conflicting with other(s) .... cycling happens when you try to load before and after without knowing what you are doing, so be careful here.

- the Plugins will be auto-sorted and again, TRUST Vortex and forget about LOOT. Do not pay attention if some plugins are in the default and others not, or if some are on the top, middle or bottom. Vortex does a great job with sorting.

- Play your game

If your game crashes, it is not because of Vortex but because some mod ( s ) are screwing up with your game. That is why I have been testing and playing with a group of mods all the time, mods that I have been using together for a very long time so anytime I add a new mod, the first thing I do is to Disable that mod and see if my CTD continues; if not, then that is my culprit and simply I leave it Disable in Vortex. I have one in SkyrimSE ( colored maps ) which was causing CTD and as soon as I disabled it, my game was back to normal. Remember that is not recommend to delete / remove a mod mid game, so just leave it Disabled and forget about it.

Let us know if everything is ok now with Vortex.

The keyword here is DOWNLOAD.

I have confirmed that I am indeed logged in, and that all the proper boxes (that I know of) are checked, but still clicking the mod download button results in zero information being transferred from the internet to my machine.

Please help, I know just enough about computer programing to be aware of how little I know.

Hi,

Does this issue persist? Have you tried at a later point in time?

If I understand correctly, if Vortex is already open you will not get any response within Vortex whenever you click the download with manager button i.e. the download is not being started or queued?

That's it exactly.

And yes I still have the problem.

Yes I did google this problem, all results said to "check the box" but, again, it didn't work.

Some people have reported that the download feature works only after they have made the proper selection using both download buttons - the one in the Vortex settings menu and the one on the Vortex dashboard. Have you done that?

Do you mean the one in the recommended actions? Yes, that's where I first noticed it. It's not there any more.

The fact that Vortex opens means that it is correctly associated with the links.

Is it possible you're running Vortex as admin but not your browser? (or vice versa?) If you close Vortex and click on a download button, is the Vortex that opens in any way different? E.g. is it not logged in then?

Could you attempt a download and immediately afterwards send in your log file? (top right ... menu -> feedback -> attach special file)
