Recommended mods for vanilla Skyrim?

Hey guys, thank you in advance for all the support and wonderful mods!

After many years, I decided to go back to Skyrim. Thing is, I never purchased any DLC (and man, do they still cost a lot!), though I'd really like to try some new and old mod, to make my experience still a bit new.

So, my question for you guys is: what are the best mods for vanilla Skyrim? (also, is it hard to install mods nowadays?)

What I'd like to do is:

- enhancing graphics and character customization

- maybe something that adds new spells, perks and armor (I usually like to role as a mage or stealth character)

- I'd really like to try roling as a vampire this time, so is there any mod for better vampires that doesn't require Dawnguard?

- any other mod you think shouldn't be missed

Thanks!

This is where to start

Skyrim Top Files most endorsed of all time

Good luck finding Mods that don't require all the DLC, it's been 7 years, everybody should have the GOTY or SSE version by now

In addition, the DLC are well worth the money in my opinion. However, a good number of mods seem to only require Dawnguard. So if you're strapped for cash, Dawnguard would be a good DLC to start with. Coincidentally, my favorite of the DLC.

Yep, and you can completely skip Hearthfires, it's just a home building DLC

Yes I agree, I especially like the idea of going back to Morrowind, but my budget is zero ):

Anyway, thank you guys, I'll see what I can find

My mod doesn't require any DLC nor does it have scripts either.

He is right, don't bother to buy a separate DLC, just get Skyrim Legendary Edition (SLE) since all three DLC are included and it's highly recommended to use USLEEP (no longer maintained) plus CRF.

Also, if you want to use mods that most people use then take a look at Arthmoor's mod collection and at the same time get AFT.
