Please pickpocket me and stab me in the back!

I always thought the sneaking skill funny how you can become almost completely invisible and backstab/pickpocket others, while the other NPCs never does that towards you. Heck, even the dark brotherhood assassins that come after you if you havn't yoined their guild yet attacks you head-on. That's why I'm making the following request:

Please make a mod where assassins and thieves will spawn everynow and then and, well, act as one of their profession should. An assassin might sneak up behind you and make a successfull senak attack if you have your back turned towards him (having some dressed as civilians would be great). Of course, they should never be able to one-hit kill you, only lower your current health with 90% at the most. Should bring some challenge.

Having thieves that sometimes sneak into your house and pickpocket you would also be great, if you can catch them in the act (and chase them down) to intimidate them to give everything back and a little extra in order to not turn them in.

Joining the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood should of course stop these encounters, but instead trigger bounty hunter NPCs, that instead will gather in groups and attack you head on.

Just some ideas, hope there is someone with the skills to make it reality :turned:

This is a pretty good idea, I'd like to see this too. Maybe not home invasion, or just from containers.

Ussually the theives guild missions are to steal from a containter, a small gem or ring, perhaps the same, they only nick gems and jewellry.

I mean, sneaking past me with one of my shields on, thats not a good plan.

I have thought of this idea before. It would add more realism to the game. Bethesda have stated that they do not wish to have any features like this in their games since it would be very annoying to some people.

In an interview with Douglas Goodall, a designer of Morrowind, he mentions some rules in making Elder Scrolls games that Ken Rolston (a lead designer) came up with. One of the rules was "No betrayal".

"No betrayal" meant that key NPCs couldn't turn on the player, lie to the player if they were honest in the past, nor could an NPC steal an item from the player, etc. This is good as a general rule, but it's the kind of rule that begs for exceptions.

The full interview can be found here. It gives some good incite in the designing of the games and Lore.

That's just your reason why this is not in vanilla Skyrim. Mods however could definitely add it for people who want it. Good Luck.

I don't know if a mod put this in or not as I have a lot of NPC mods, but some urchins robbed me once. The one started a conversation and some money got removed and the two then took off. Could do something like that. As for the assassin perhaps making them invisible and giving them increased damage on their first hit would work. Maybe even make it so they'll try to flank you instead of bum rushing.

I believe this is a feature in Inconsequential NPCs.

From the mod page:

As Ulfric never ceases to lament, many of Skyrim's inhabitants left the country to fight in the war against the Aldermri Dominion. Some of those men and women did not return, and the civil war has only exacerbated the damage done to the social infrastructure of Skyrim. Yet, there are only a handful of orphans in Skyrim, almost all of whom are incarcerated in the orphanage in Riften. Is there a 'Skyrim Child Welfare Services', with armies of childcare workers scouring Skyrim for orphans to bring to the orphanage? The Riften orphanage isn't capable of housing all of them, in any event. With 'Inconsequential NPCs', in some cities, you will encounter homeless street children. Newcomers to these cities should keep a hand on their coin purses should they wish to approach these urchins--you have been warned...

I like the idea of randomly assassins and thieves who can almost kill you or steal from you, i also have some ideas ( a storyline) to make it more interesting.

Let's say an assassin attacked you and left you for dead, you are not really dead but just unconscious, and he/she or a thief stole a few items or everything from you while you are uncunscious, you wake up and find yourself in a strangers house who was willing to help you to get your health back.

Assume you are completely robbed of everything you had with you, naturaly there must be a possibility to regain your stuff by hunting down the thief but it will not be that easy because he/she could have sold some of your stuff, so it would be a nice quest to retrieve all your belongings.

The helper could lend you some armor and weapons for your quest.

I also suggest that the mod have some settings you can make so you can deside if some one can only steal some items or everything.

Active quest items are of course excluded.

Resplendent Racials gives enemy bosmer invisibility at full health, and it makes them a lot scarier. The intention was to force players to knock them out of stealth at the start of a fight, but in reality it often turns into Aliens vs Predator style fireball spam in random directions to reveal them before they kill you. This wasn't really on purpose, but you could try giving your assassins a similar ability because it seems to be exactly what you're looking for.
