HadToRegister Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 Might help if you posted your load order, so we don't have to ask "Do you have this mod installed?" "What about that mod?" etc
williamhansard Posted November 4, 2018 Author Posted November 4, 2018 Might help if you posted your load order, so we don't have to ask "Do you have this mod installed?" "What about that mod?" etcWhat's the best way to go about doing that, screenshot, copy/paste? Was just hoping this was something well-known so I wouldn't have to, lol.
Daermonster Posted November 4, 2018 Posted November 4, 2018 look there's an easier way than guessing by looking at load order, open up any mods that you believe might be the culprit in XEDIT then you can look at all the items changed by that mod, shoot you can even rename it to just "torch" right there in XEdit.
Deleted57218227User Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 I know how you feel...sometimes I play with too many mods...and I have to figure out which one is screwing the game up!
Urtho Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Open up your entire load order in xEdit, go to the Light section, sort by name and find "Torch".Find what mod is changing the name from the default.Uninstall that mod OR delete the record for torch that is changing the name in that mod.Total time taken - less than 5 minutes.Profit.
IsharaMeradin Posted November 5, 2018 Posted November 5, 2018 Open up your entire load order in xEdit, go to the Light section, sort by name and find "Torch".Find what mod is changing the name from the default.Uninstall that mod OR delete the record for torch that is changing the name in that mod.Total time taken - less than 5 minutes.Profit.Do this first. If and only if you do not find that a plugin changes the name of the torch directly... The only other means of changing the name of an object is done from within game. The first method is by having the object assigned to a quest alias where it is given a different name. But this affects only a single instance of the object. The second method is done via script by means of the SetName function which requires the use of SKSE and does affect all instances of an object. Thus if you cannot find a plugin which edits the record directly, you should test the individual mods that rely on SKSE. Should you use Vortex or Mod Organizer you can set up a separate profile for testing purposes.
williamhansard Posted November 6, 2018 Author Posted November 6, 2018 Thanks for your help, guys! I had never used xEdit before. I was able to find the offending mod and handle the problem!
HadToRegister Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Thanks for your help, guys! I had never used xEdit before. I was able to find the offending mod and handle the problem! So, what was the offending mod so it could help others with the same problem?
danielcotton Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 I had the same problem with torches! Realistic Lighting Overhaul's Valdacil's Item Sorting Patch was causing this for me.
