New AMD driver update fixed my Skyrim

I had high hopes for this driver following the experiences of you guys but it turned out to be a failure when Xfire was enabled as usual. I have rolled back to my previous driver a Dell version that dates back to 2010!

Out of interest, has anyone else noticed that graphics quality on high settings has dramatically worsened since updating to patch 1.6? At first I thought it was due to the 12.6 driver but after rolling back to the previous driver the graphics remained the same. Only rolling back to patch 1.5 (and firewalling Steam) allowed me to get back the original great graphics quality.

1.6 deff messed up something. Having said that there is an improvement using 12.6 in xfire for me, less lag in the laggy areas seems marginally smother overall. Still not as good as 1.5 with 12.4 for me tho'

Updated with 12.7b today 6/7/2012. Fixed the yellow flickering on the save screen. 25% improvement on Skyrim performance? Well it seems better but I can't be certain.

I modded my 6950 to 6970 to unlock the extra oomph and I had perfect 60fps until I started modding. Over a hundred mods later, many of which are visual, it drops down to maybe 55fps but it peaks at 60fps in towns and indoors, or in caves and dungeons. This includes having the 4K HD pack, lush packs etc... The new beta patch ended up destroying whatever was enjoyable in the game and causes continuous crashes and updates normally run fine for me. After disabling all the mods, the game was even more unstable but for those that do get the beta to work, it boasts a delicious 25% performance increase.

My friend, you are a god for making this wonderful post! I have been slightly shy of some of the updates because the last one I got caused my game to go haywire when AA was enabled. But, considering that it is not giving you fits, and since our GPU's aren't to far apart (I have a 6770), then I'm sure everything will go fine!

Thanks my friend!
