Vortex--Game crashing

Before I installed vortex, skyrim ran just fine. It was easy to install mods via NMM and they worked. After installing vortex and trying to figure it out, I got the mods I have to load but now after the game loads, I hit the tab key and click on magic, the game crashes every time now. I didn't dl any other mods, didn't change anything in the game settings or anything else. Just installed vortex and poof, games crashes.

So, you already had mods installed with NMM for Skyrim.

What I'm getting from your post is that you then installed Vortex, at this point you don't say whether you IMPORTED your current mods into Vortex, of if you just installed some mods with Vortex as well, so now you have some mods installed with NMM and some installed with Vortex?

Is any of that right?

It'd help if you'd be more clear.

All my mods were installed with NMM. I installed vortex, tried to import mods from nmm to vortex and vortex froze. So I went to the nexus website and redownloaded the mods I was using with vortex. Same mods, no new ones and everything works fine and the mods are installed and working and everything is there, but now it crashes when I click on magic.

i gotta say off the bat - what you described, sounds like a recipe for disaster.

it is written very, very clearly, if you have a working mod manager and modded game, don't transition. i mean, they've been right up front about that.

so, then you do - something - but who knows what. all i can take from that is you didn't read, didn't watch video's you basically did everything wrong, messed your game up, and now, you're blaming all that on vortex. am i right?

mate - if you have a backup of your files - restore it - and pick up from where you left off. the alternative is - clear out your mod directories, validate your game files from steam and then use vortex to reinstall your mods one by one until you have your load order the way it was before you wrecked it.

it might take you some time to do that, which is why i say restore your files from the backup you made before you figuratively took a shotgun to your game folders.

Well I did watch the videos, read and did what was ask, it didn't work, did I mess something up? Maybe, but at this point it really doesn't matter. Luckily I didn't delete NMM or the mod files, but I will delete vortex. There was absolutely nothing wrong with NMM , it dose exactly what it is supposed to do. I'll go back to NMM and stick with it and I won't be bothered by ads like with vortex or the learning curve. But since Nexus uses vortex now and not NMM, they're not really giving people a choice are they?

Actually, YES, they're still giving a choice, you'd know that if you paid attention.

You just have to click on INSTALL VORTEX, then Scroll down and see this here

Hey so I know this is probably a dead thread at this moment. Though I wanted to see if anyone else has been running into this issue. I have installed Vortex, I previously NMM on my old computer, though when I upgraded my rig I decided to start new with my modding. I am trying to mod my skyrim (non SE) and even with script extender, if I put in any mod at all, the game now immediately crashes. I remove any mods and it boots up just fine. The intergreity of the game is solid and I have all my files correctly linked, though I am still unable to gain any progress after a few hours of troubleshooting, any suggestions?

Seems to be pretty common. I installed exactly the same mods I had on NMM and then put the same ones on Vortex. When I press Continue, it loads the game then immediately crashes. I am going back to NMM, and installing manually.

if your game is crashing after installing the same mods, thats because you haven't done what you say you've done, correctly.
