I have no "fallout4custom.ini" to edit...

I'm new to modding (only been at it seriously for a few weeks) and up until now I've been able to have all of my questions resolved through trial-and-error and research. Although I've never been one to mess around with computer files I managed to get through the recent script editor update to FO4 and SSE without too much trouble, so my self-education seems to be going pretty good (it is amazing the amount of info on the net, and the problems that have already been addressed).

Up until this week I've been messing around with Skyrim SE, but now that I'm playing around with Fallout 4 I've discovered several references to edit the "fallout4custom.ini" file, unfortunately I don't seem to have it available. The closest thing I have is "fallout4_default.ini"

- is the "fallout4custom.ini" only present in the ultimate edition? I originally purchased the base game when it was first released and only just added the DLCs a couple of days ago- I'm assuming this is my issue. Is there a work-around for me? Am I just missing something terribly obvious? Do I just have to live without those mods that require that file?

- Thank you in advance for the info and the assisted training of a novice.

Try looking under "C:\Users\<user name>\documents\My Games\Fallout4

My Steam and other F4-related stuff is on my 'D' drive, but windows insists on putting this ini stuff on 'C' (or I suppose whatever drive you have Windows installed on, if you have some weird setup). If you have the folder, you need to add -

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Exactly as i typed it (nothing after the second '=' sign)

If you do not have said folder in that place, you need to create a folder named that (in that spot, under \My games\Fallout4), and it should just contain the following -

[Display]
iLocation X=0
iLocation Y=0
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

At least, that's all mine has in it, and my mods ran fine (until today, when Bethesda decided to 'update' stuff again) {sigh}

Create the file yourself.

Just right click and pick NEW and pick TXT file, name the file fallout4custom.ini, making sure that the INI replaces the TXT extension

I was not aware I could simply add new files to an existing program that easily. Thank you.

This is what I've been seeing that I've needed to have done, I just didn't have it available. Combined with the information from HadToRegister it now exists! Now I'm going to play around with it to see if I can get it to function properly. Thank you very much for the info.
